Wrestlemania 26 Predictions: Streak, Career, Cena, Batista, Bret, Vince

Evan FeinFeb 22, 2010

With Wrestlemania 26 just around the corner, I find myself more interested in professional wrestling than I have ever been since I was a kid watching The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin dominate the Attitude Era. I think there is potential for a really good card this year and I have a few predictions. Some are obvious, some not so much.

Yesterday night, in the Raw Elimination Chamber, John Cena emerged victorious after outlasting Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, and Triple H. Batista, who had squandered his chance to compete in the Smackdown Elimination Chamber, came out afterwards and took Cena's title in an impromptu title match. Cena has won two chamber matches and lost the title immediately after following both of them.

Also, in the Smackdown Elimination Chamber, Shawn Michaels emerged from beneath the platform to hit the superkick on the Undertaker, giving Jericho the WHC. This should have come to no surprise to anyone who has been following the ongoing rematch saga between the two competitors over the past several months.

On Raw tonight, Edge announced that he would face his longtime tormentor Jericho for the WHC, and it became apparent that John Cena would face Batista for the WWE championship. No surprises

The big shock of the night: Undertaker accepting Michaels' demand for a rematch, with the stipulation that if Michaels loses, his career is over. This will bring some serious drama into their encounter at Wrestlemania. For once, it is quite possible that the Undertaker's streak could come to an end at Wrestlemania.

Also, the cracks in Legacy became deeper when Randy walked out on his teammates and gave Ted an RKO. Christian also qualified for the Money In The Bank ladder match.

So now, my predicted card, in the order I believe the matches will take place in:

1. Dark Match, Drew McIntyre vs Kane for the Intercontinental Title

Winner: Drew McIntyre - Jacobs continues to play a more behind the scenes role in the WWE, giving the younger guys a chance at stardom. Masked Kane is not coming back

2. Big Show and the Miz vs Mark Henry and MVP for the Unified Tag Team Titles

Winner: MVP and Mark Henry - I don't expect the Miz to continue to hold two titles around his waist after Wrestlemania. If this match doesn't take place then I expect Miz to lose the U.S. title to either MVP or Henry. Any of these guys could possibly be in the MITB ladder match though

3. Randy Orton vs Ted DiBiase vs Cody Rhodes for the leadership of legacy

Winner: Cody Rhodes. I'm going out on a big limb here. With all the talk about Randy vs Ted, wouldn't it be interesting if Cody, the jobber of the group was the guy with his hand raised at the end of the night? After this, Legacy could split up and the Randy-Ted fued could take place over the course of a few months.

4. MITB ladder match: Christian vs Ezekiel Jackson vs Evan Bourne vs Shelton Benjamin vs Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison vs Kofi Kingston vs Vance Archer

Winner: Christian. I think I have the participants about right. The winner is kind of obvious if you think about the potential for a feud if Christian has MITB

5. CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio

Winner: CM Punk. I don't think it will be hair vs mask as everyone says it will. Then Mysterio would clearly win. I see Punk winning via interference from the SES. Maybe some celebrity comes in afterwards to help Mysterio and verbally trash Punk

6. Edge vs Chris Jericho for the WHC

Winner: Edge. I'd like this match to be the last on the card but I don't see this happening. It would be unexpected for Jericho to win but the way this fued has been built up, Edge will pull it off. Keep in mind that the Rumble winner has lost at mania two years in a row. Afterwards, Christian comes to the ring and teases cashing in MITB but shakes his brother's hand.

7. Triple H vs Sheamus

Winner: Sheamus. It won't be clean, but Triple H beating his workout buddy wouldn't serve any point. A tainted win over the Game at Wrestlemania would keep Sheamus' momentum going after losing the title last night.

8. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, Streak vs Career

Winner: Undertaker. Both of these men are at the end of their careers. I have a feeling the rematch will live up to the hype. Is there a better way to have Mr. Wrestlemania go out than to have one more classic encounter with the deadman at Wrestlemania? He could always find a way to come back. Anyway, I can't see the streak ending, ever.

9. Gail Kim vs Maryse for the Diva's championship

Winner: Gail Kim. The heel diva's and the face diva's will all have some spots as the crowd digests the Taker/HBK match

10. John Cena (w/ Bret Hart) vs Batista (w/ Vince McMahon) for the WWE championship

Winner: John Cena. There is no way Cena will lose this match. I don't think Vince will have a separate match with Bret given concerns about Bret's health. Vince will cheat, hit Cena with a chair, and Bret will get a low blow on Batista. After Cena pins Batista with an Attitude Adjustment, he will drag Vince into the ring and allow Bret to put Vince in the Sharpshooter one last time as the PPV goes off the air.

Of course, this card is subject to change every week as we approach Wrestlemania. Once the card is finalized, I will write another prediction sheet.
