Top 5 Defensive Back Prospects In 2010 Draft
Since the beginning of the NFL Draft the most undervalued positions have been defensive backs. In this coming NFL draft some of the best players are safeties, cornerbacks, and linebackers that could help to strengthen any struggling defense in the league.
Many teams could use players such as these. Teams like the 49ers, Browns, and Rams are missing that one key piece to their defensive backfield that could give them a solid core to build around. The 49ers are probably one strong player away from having a great defense and well-rounded team.
There's a long list of great backs in this draft but i've narrowed it down to my Top 5:
1- S Eric Berry, Tennessee: He has a very similar play style to Ed Reed. A great all-around player with speed and big play ability. He'd be a great fit with the Browns who were lacking to say the least at the safety position last year.
2- CB Joe Haden, Florida: Joe Haden is probably the strongest corner in college football. Hes only a junior but has committed to the draft. He's got great instincts and is a far better tackler than most other cornerbacks.
3- LB Rolando McClain, Alabama: Rolando McClain is a big athlete who hits hard. He will be feared around the NFL and I have no doubt he will be an immediate starter wherever he goes.
4- LB Brandon Spikes, Florida: He's very similar to the previously mentioned Rolando McClain, a big dude with speed who hits hard. He'll probably go later in the first round to a team like the Giants or the Eagles who need help in the linebacker spot.
5- S Earl Thomas, Texas: Thomas is great playmaker who will contribute greatly to any team who struggles to force turnovers. He may even belong higher up on this list.
There is no set list of the top defensive back prospects. The lists will all look similar but none of them the same. It all depends on personal opinion and in truth some straight toss ups. There's a lot of talent in the upcoming draft. It should be exciting.
