The Five Teams That Should Sign LaDainian Tomlinson

LaDainian Tomlinson was released today by the San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers announced today that they have released running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

Since LT just turned 30 and Darren Sproles was doing an excellent job as his backup there was no surprise that this game. Not to mention that the Chargers owed LT a $2 million bonus that they could save if they cut the ex-MVP go. LaDainian Tomlinson will tell anyone that will listen that he is not done playing in the NFL the question is where? Here are five teams that LaDainian may be playing with next year.

5) Cleveland Browns: It may be a long shot since the Browns have had a bad team for so long. However they ended the season on a good note with four straight wins and now have Mike Holmgren calling the shots. LT could provide stability in the backfield and be the spark they need to work well with cribs.

4) Houston Texans: Ryan Moats and Steve Slaton do not seem to be the answer in Houston. They have flashes of brilliance but never can perform consistently. Having LaDainian Tomlinson on the team could help mold the young backs and splitting the time could keep him healthy. In a pass happy offense LT could thrive, remember he did catch over 100 passes one year.

3) Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks are in need of a running back in a bad way and there is a good chance that they will draft a rookie in the draft. LaDainian Tomlinson is the perfect mentor to teach any youngster the ropes and in the meantime could have the bulk of the carries as they groom a youngster to play in the NFL.

2) Washington Redskins: With Mike Shanahan in control in Washington you can expect some wholesale changes. Clinton Portis is saying all the right things but if they were willing to part ways once before there is nothing from stopping the coach from getting rid of Portis again. Enter LaDainian Tomlinson. Snyder likes big names and LT will get the carries that he wants.

1) New England Patriots: The Patriots have a way of working Magic with old running backs. Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon to name just a few of the latest projects that this team has taken on. LaDainian Tomlinson fits better with New England than any other team. He will get plenty of passes thrown to him but other backs can take the punishment of running between the tackles. He can easily be featured as a receiver in this offense and he will have a shot at a title for years to come.

Only time will tell where Tomlinson will end up next but it will be an interesting off-season in the NFL.
