LeBron to the Knicks?

Dominick ScarfoglieroFeb 19, 2010

Did the Knicks really make the right moves to get LeBron James to play for New York? Most likely the Knicks will have the most available money going into the off season this summer with an estimated $32 million. According to ESPN, and pretty much every sport writer, the Knicks will pursue the top 2 available free agents this summer. Assuming LeBron decides to leave Cleavland and can get his buddy Dwyane Wade to follow, are the Knicks the team to beat? I think so. The Boston Celtics pretty much did the same thing a couple of years ago when they signed Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, and look what it got them (It got them a championship for all you idiots out there). If this deal does not work out for the Knicks, meaning neither LeBron or Wade decide to play for New York, then this trade deadline deal will probable go down as the worst deal since the San Fransisco Giants signed Barry Zito to a 7 year $126 million contract. When I first heard about this deal and the Knicks intentions, I automatically broke this deal into two parts, as followed:

Pros:

  • KING JAMES!!!!
  • ADDED $$ TO SALARY CAP
  • T-MAC (COULD BE A PRO OR A CON)

Cons:

  • NO KING JAMES!!!!
  • A LOT OF MONEY AND NOTHING TO SPEND IT ON
  • NO DEPTH
  • NO CHAMPIONSHIP
  • NO LEADERSHIP
  • BIGGEST OF ALL: NO FANS!
I keep talking about this deal the Knick made and I haven't really explained it. I dont find it necessary to explain because everyone who even has a clue about sports knows that the New York Knicks jumped into a three team trade with the Rockets and the Kings. The Knicks got Tracy McGrady and basically traded away Jordan Hill and their next two draft picks. If Tracy McGrady is the same T-Mac that we all know and love then this is a great deal for the Knicks, because then they would have the opportunity for LeBron, Wade and T-Mac to all be on the court at the same time. How great would that be?
Ok so I think I said enough, now what do you think? Log on to www.ny-sports-talk.com and take our poll on the latest Knicks moves and voice your opinion on this story.
