Tiger Woods Press Conference: Is He Still a Robot or More Human?
In a prepared statement, Tiger Woods faced a room of invited media, close friends, and associates and sounded no different than he would after a golf tournament.
What most thought would be an emotion-filled, tear-dropped press conference became a rehearsed speech.
At one point, anger came out of Tiger's voice when describing the rumors that his wife hit him with a golf club the night of his car accident. He also became a tad bit angry when talking about how the "paparazzi" reported the location of the school attended by his two year old daughter.
He took responsibility for his actions, saying at one point, "I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted, when I wanted."
He talked about his parents, his foundation, his business associates, his wife, and his children. Though he took a few moments to compose himself at a few different times, his tone basically stayed the same.
As for his future, Tiger will return to rehab for the immediate future and will attempt to reconcile his marriage.
His playing future, however, is not immediately known since he said that he does want to return to the game but doesn't know if it will be this year.
For Tiger, this was a time to come out of hiding, to respond to his past and his future. It was a safe statement, a statement that did not address the women that have come forward or the other rumors that have been flying about his life.
He has a lot of work to do to win back the fans and fellow golfers that have turned their back on him. It will be up to him to make the effort to prove his worth once again.
The PGA Tour will be without Tiger Woods for the immediate future. But, when Tiger does return, it could quite possibly be the biggest return since Michael Jordan made his first return to the Chicago Bulls.
After all, this is still Tiger Woods.
