Arsenal Take on Porto: No Gallas, Song, Arshavin, Eduardo, or Almunia

John SmithFeb 17, 2010

Good news, bad news kinda day for Arsenal FC and their loyal subservient fans.

So you want the good news or the bad news first? What´s that? The bad news... It´s always the bad news first isn´t it?

And the bad news is ALWAYS worse than the good news, so when you hear the good news, it isn´t even good anymore, it´s just bad news with a cherry on top. I always say (now, not before) "You can´t polish a turd."

Anyway, crazy life stories aside. The Bad News Is We made the trip to Portugal without some key names.

We´ve no Gallas: he has been in excellent form this season and despite playing in a leaky back four, it´s hard to find many circumstances where he was at fault for the goals.

We've no Song: he too has been in excellent form, doing very well to shield the back four all season and drastically improving his passing and running with the ball. WAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

We've no Arshavin: Andrei hasn't been in glistering (that should definitely be blistering, but I think glistering is just a wonderful combination of blistering and glistening) form, but he is the kind of player who can win a game with one little piece of special skill. He also is just fantastic at absolutely lashing the ball at goal.

We've no Eddie: Dudu hasn't played that well either, and his Arsenal career is short of fizzling out. It's sad really, we all excepted big things from him, and when he got injured him and theonewhosenameshallnotbespoken were playing fucking excellent stuff together. Here's hoping his WC-free summer will get him rested up nicely for next season, where he can poach prizes like an Elephant killer.

We've no Almunia: Oh WAIT THIS IS IN THE WRONG SECTION.

The Good News Is We've no Almunia: This guy has been crap. I've lost all faith in our keeper, and although he played well against Liverpool I'd prefer any of our other 3 keepers to this Spanglishman, especially because he's already 32.

He's not getting ANY BETTER! That's it. That's all. You've seen the lot of it.

There is no more to come from this guy. It is really as good as it gets. Obviously it's also nice to have a big of Saaw-ker to play today after a week off, and there is nothing better than the CL.

Last night I almost drank a Heineken in celebration of the recommencement of the CL, and then I came to my senses and god an A.K.DAMM - Which is a great beer because its cheap, deliciously awesome, and if you take away the K and one of the M's you get Adam, which is my name.

So that's awesomely delicious. I'm just happy it's all kicked off again. Someone once asked me what made me more sad, my bunny "Hoppy" dying when I was eight years old, or the CL group stages coming to a close.

I told them to kill that bunny repeatedly...I'm sticking by my decision. ArsenalAdam
