Reservation For Six Mock Draft (2/15/10)

Bryan BrackneyFeb 13, 2010
1. St. Louis Rams - Ndamukong Suh - DT - Nebraska - The Rams could not get after the quarterback in 2009. Suh adds a dominating force inside that will allow Chris Long to get after the quarterback.

2. Detroit Lions - Gerald McCoy - DT - Oklahoma - McCoy adds instant credibility to the Lions defense. McCoy will allow Cliff Arvil to see more one-on-one match ups, while McCoy will occupy blockers. Although he is not huge, McCoy is a great pass rusher, in the mold of Kevin Williams.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Eric Berry - S - Tennessee - The Buccaneers drafted talent over need in this spot. Although safety is not a dire need, I'm sure the Buccaneers will not mind having a play maker on defense.

4. Washington Redskins - Russell Okung - OT - Oklahoma State - The Redskins land the best offensive player in the draft as they try to replace their ancient offensive line. Okung will replace Chris Samuels, who is expected to retire.

5. Kansas City Chiefs - Rolondo McClain - ILB - Alabama - The Chiefs probably want to trade down here, but if they stay, I expect them to take a player on the defensive side of the ball. With Derrick Johnson expected to leave, McClain brings a play maker to the Chiefs defense.
6. Seattle Seahawks - Joe Haden - CB - Florida - The Seahawks did not get much out of Marcus Trufant in 2009, and are expected to make secondary more of a priority in 2010. Ken Lucas is also expected to leave.

7. Cleveland Browns - Jimmy Clausen - QB - Notre Dame - Unable to land a veteran in free agency, the Browns are forced to take Clausen with their first round pick. Derek Anderson is expected to be released, and the Browns have not backed up Brady Quinn.

8. Oakland Raiders - Bruce Campbell - OT - Maryland - Campbell would get a chance to start day one if he gets drafted by the Raiders. With Cornell Green hitting free agency, this pick becomes essential.

9. Buffalo Bills - Anthony Davis - OT - Rutgers - The Bills had one of the worst offensive lines last season, mainly due to their left and right tackles. The Bills will try to upgrade both left and right tackle this off season.

10. Denver Broncos - Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma - Even though most expect the Broncos to re-sign Kyle Ortan, the Broncos have already been linked in trade rumors of Donovan McNabb.

11. Jacksonville Jaguars - Derrick Morgan - DE - Georgia Tech - With Reggie Heyward expected to become an unrestricted free agent, the Jaguars need a better option opposite Derrick Harvey.

12. Miami Dolphins - Sergio Kindle - LB - Texas - The Dolphins are expected to release Joey Porter, and Jason Taylor may not return, either by free agency or retirement. Cameron Wake and Charlie Anderson do not provide much pressure.

13. San Francisco 49ers - Terrance Cody - DT - Alabama - Even though it seems likely that the 49ers will slap the franchise tag on Aubrayo Franklin, what is their play in 2011?

14. Seattle Seahawks - C.J. Spiller - RB - Clemson - The Seahawks running game in 2009 was average at best. Spiller would take a lot of pressure of Matt Hasselbeck, and make Pete Carroll's job a whole lot easier.

15. New York Giants - Brian Price - DT - UCLA - The Giants could not get after the quarterback in 2009. With Fred Robbins hitting the open market, this move would make even more sense.

16. Tennessee Titans - Jason Pierre-Paul - DE - South Florida - The Titans will not draft a defensive end early if they re-sign Kyle Vanden Bosch, but if they don't PP will be ready for early NFL action.

17. San Francisco 49ers - Bryan Bulaga - OT - Iowa - Tony Pashos and Barry Sims are hitting free agency in what has become a revolving door at right tackle for the 49ers.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Taylor Mays - S - USC - Once upon a time the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted a young safety out of USC. That was Troy Polamalu. Mays and Polamalu would be a great secondary.

19. Atlanta Falcons - Carlos Dunlap - DE - Florida - John Abraham is not getting any younger, and Jamaal Anderson is not getting any better.

20. Houston Texans - Dan Williams - DT - Tennessee - The Texans struggled without Travis Johnson in 2009.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Arrelious Benn - WR - Illinois - It was obvious to see that the Bengals missed T.J. Houshmanzadeh in 2009.

22. New England Patriots - Golden Tate - WR - Notre Dame - Two months ago most draft guys would not even consider the Patriots drafting a wide receiver. With the possibility of missing both Wes Welker and Randy Moss in week one, this pick is a must.

23. Green Bay Packers - Charles Brown - OT - USC - With Chad Clifton scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, the already sketchy Packers offensive line is in trouble.

24. Philadelphia Eagles - Everson Griffen - DE - USC - Add Griffen to Trent Cole and the Eagles would be much more of a threat in the NFC East.

25. Baltimore Ravens - Brandon LaFell - WR - LSU - The Ravens only productive receiver, Derrick Mason, will be an unrestricted free agent, and he may decide to retire. Even if he comes back, I expect the Ravens to take a receiver in the first round.

26. Arizona Cardinals - Brandon Graham - LB - Michigan - Chike Okeafor and Bertrand Berry will hit free agency, and the Cardinals may decide to let the aging veterans leave.

27. Dallas Cowboys - Mike Iupati - OG - Idaho - Montrae Holland is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, and the Cowboys may not re-sign him. The Cowboys have such a talented roster, they can afford to draft talent over need.

28. San Diego Chargers - Jahvid Best - RB - California - With LaDainian Tomlinson packing his bags, and Darren Sproles status up in air, the Chargers will almost certainly grab a running back in the first couple of rounds.

29. New York Jets - Patrick Robinson - CB - Florida State - Imagine how tough the Jets defense would be with a good cornerback on the other side of Darrelle Revis. Robinson provides an instant upgrade over Lito Sheppard.

30. Minnesotta Vikings - Jerry Hughes - DT - Texas Christian - The Vikings may lose two defensive tackles this offseason. Jimmy Kennedy is a free agent, and Pat Williams may decide to retire.

31. Indianapolis Colts - Jared Odrick - DT - Penn State - With both Colts starting defensive tackles hitting free agency, drafting a defensive tackle early would hardly be a surprise.

32. New Orleans Saints - Sean Weatherspoon - LB - Missouri - With Scott Fujita hitting the open market, the Saints may decide to let him go free. Weatherspoon is one of my favorite players in the draft. I love the intensity he plays with.
