Dixon, Force, Edwards Win @ Pomona NHRA WinterNationals

The US Nationals, Gator Nationals and The WinterNationals three of the big races you wanna win as a drag racer and what a way to kick off the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series with the Golden Anniversery and the 50th running of the Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Southern California. Coming off of Thursday and Friday qualifying sessions we went into the last round of qualifying Saturday where Cory McClenathan was the number one qualifier in Top Fuel, Robert Hight in Funny Car and Mike Edwards in Pro Stock car.

On Sunday a picture perfect day in Southern California for the Winternationals it was Larry Dixon who defeated the defending Winternationals champion Doug Kalitta with a 3.80 @ 316.60 mph to Kalitta's losing 3.84 @ 310.05 was Larry's fourth win at the Winternationals and his first win Al-Anabi Racing and Allan Johnson.

On to Funny Car where John Force broke a losing streak dating back to Topeka in 2008 with a win over Ron Capps. Force won on a holeshot at 4.124 to a 4.123 this was John's fifth win at the Winternationals and with some crew changes, the new Ford Mustangs this could be the year of John Force once again could he challenge for a 15th Funny Car title of course anyone who doubts that does'nt know drag racing too well and what John has done already is amazing a true legend of the sport.

Mike Edwards coming off a tremendous 2009 with sixteen number one Qualifiers several wins and a Championship what does he do, lead Qualifying sit on the top spot again and then start to eliminate in the rounds as he would defeat Greg Anderson in the finals with a 6.57, @ 210.47 mph to a losing 6.61, @ 209.62 mph Greg got the holeshot but Edwards ran him down. Mike Edwards looks like he does'nt plan on stopping anytime soon.

The NHRA heads to the Southwest to Firebird Raceway in Arizona this weekend for the Arizona Nationals who will strike gold once again and take home the wallys.
