How about some of the mid-major teams?

As of Feb. 15, 2010, here is a list of teams that might find themselves on the bubble come Selection Sunday:

Maryland (17-7, 7-3) (ACC)

They had a tough loss to Duke on Saturday, but the Terrapins responded very well with a blowout victory over Virginia on Monday night.

RPI: 42

S.O.S.: 33

Virginia (14-9, 5-5) (ACC)

The door is closing fast for Virginia. They got blown out by Maryland on Monday night and have two more games this week against Florida State and Clemson, most likely must wins for Virginia.

RPI: 95

S.O.S.: 98

Florida State (18-7, 6-5) (ACC)

The Seminoles are in the middle of the pack in the ACC. They got past Boston College but need to win at Virginia on Wednesday.

RPI: 46

S.O.S.: 61

Georgia Tech (17-8, 5-6) (ACC)

The Yellow Jackets have done enough and certainly have the talent to dance in March. However, their record and recent struggles have them on the bubble right now.

RPI: 29

S.O.S.: 12

Clemson (18-7, 6-5) (ACC)

They don’t play again until Saturday and it’s a home game against Virginia, who has a busy week themselves, Clemson can benefit from some time off and a win this weekend.

RPI: 34

S.O.S.: 36

Charlotte (18-6, 8-2) (Atlantic 10)

The 49ers look to get their ninth conference win on Wednesday when Duquesne comes to town.

RPI: 41

S.O.S.: 101

Xavier (17-7, 8-2) (Atlantic 10)

They picked up a nice non-conference win at Florida on Saturday.

RPI: 21

S.O.S.: 14

Rhode Island (19-5, 7-4) (Atlantic 10)

St. Louis has crashed the upper half of the Atlantic-10; can URI beat them on the road on Wednesday?

RPI: 23

S.O.S.: 46

Dayton (17-7, 6-4) (Atlantic 10)

Dayton should get 20+ wins, but they are looking up at the other league members on the bubble in the conference standings.

RPI: 31

S.O.S.: 34

Louisville (16-9, 7-5) (Big East)

Their recent upset victory on the road at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse overshadows their previous loss to St. John’s last Thursday.

RPI: 31

S.O.S.: 4

Notre Dame (17-9, 6-7) (Big East)

Back-to-back losses really hurt the Irish, who are probably on the outside looking in right now.

RPI: 79

S.O.S.: 64

Cincinnati (15-9, 6-6) (Big East)

They beat UConn on Saturday, but their next two games are against two teams in similar situations (South Florida and Marquette).

RPI: 53

S.O.S.: 22

Marquette (16-8, 7-5) (Big East)

The Golden Eagles are in a position where they are only one game out of third place in the Big East, but can they assert themselves atop the middle of the pack in the conference?

RPI: 59

S.O.S.: 55

South Florida (15-9, 5-7) (Big East)

Back-to-back losses have hurt, but can South Florida win at home against Cincinnati and St. John’s this week?

RPI: 54

S.O.S.: 40

Connecticut (15-11, 5-8) (Big East)

The Huskies were out of discussion; that is until they won on the road at Villanova on Monday night.

RPI: 62

S.O.S.: 3

Illinois (17-9, 9-4) (Big Ten)

They are in right now, but the blowout loss at home to Ohio State raises a few eyebrows.

RPI: 69

S.O.S.: 62

Northwestern (17-8, 6-7) (Big Ten)

They knocked Minnesota out of bubble discussion, but they are on the edge themselves.

RPI: 77

S.O.S.: 89

Oklahoma State (17-7, 5-5) (Big 12)

They snapped a three game losing streak with a blowout victory over Oklahoma.

RPI: 39

S.O.S.: 44

Texas Tech (16-8, 4-6) (Big 12)

Took a tough loss to Texas A&M on Saturday; their next three games will determine their fate.

RPI: 37

Missouri (18-7, 6-4) (Big 12)

A win over Texas on Wednesday would be big for the Tigers.

RPI: 45

There is a good chance they dance even if they don’t win the CAA.

RPI: 33

Northeastern (17-9, 12-3) (CAA)

The “what-ifs” of non-conference play: Can Northeastern finish a great in-conference season strong?

The Miners sit in first place in Conference USA.

RPI: 58

S.O.S.: 131

UAB (19-5, 7-3) (C-USA)

The Blazers are 1-3 in their last four games, but that was after a 6-0 conference start.

RPI: 38

S.O.S.: 94

Wichita State (21-6, 10-5) (Missouri Valley)

Surprisingly, they have already played 27 games.

RPI: 47

S.O.S.: 120

Arizona State (18-8, 8-5) (Pac-10)

Their next three games are on the road; wins would put them in a good position.

RPI: 64

S.O.S.: 76

California (17-8, 9-4) (Pac-10)

They lead the Pac-10 right now, but if they didn’t win the conference would they still dance?

RPI: 24

S.O.S.: 5

Florida (17-8, 6-4) (SEC)

They let Xavier get them best of them, at home.
