Judgment On Adam Braithwaite Should Wait
The upcoming 2010 Michigan Wolverines football season has got to be one of the most anticipated to date.
Everyone who follows the program and wants to see it back among the elite of college football knows that this is Rich Rodriguez's third year at the helm and the expectations are great.
Rodriguez has now had two full recruiting classes come into Ann Arbor and they are both highly talented.
The 2010 Michigan offense should be loaded and especially at the skill position. The ace in the hole for the offense will be the experience factor alone.
This is especially true at the quarterback position and this group will be tough to contain in 2010.
On the other side of the ball of course is the Michigan defense and this will be a young group this year.
It is nice to finally see some continuity among the staff and this alone is a major plus for the defensive side of the ball.
New linebacker/safeties coach, Adam Braithwaite should also be included among this group.
He has already been within the Michigan program for the past two years and the players are undoubtedly familiar with him.
The Braithwaite hire has of course come with some controversy with the claims of Rodriguez not caring about the defense by hiring such an unproven kid to coach.
Was the hiring of Braithwaite by Rodriguez really that bad of an idea?
It is true that he is not a big name coach, however, Greg Robinson must have confidence in him to hire him in such a critical year.
It is also true that Braithwaite will have lots of young talent to develop at his positions.
These facts alone should call for patience when trying to understand the reasons for this in house promotion.
