Jamie McMurray Wins Daytona 500 In A Wild Finish

Jamie McMurray won the 52^nd Annual Great American Race the Daytona 500 on Sunday holding off Dale Earnhardt Jr who came from tenth to second in only 2 laps after having three green white checker finishes a rule that was tweaked before last weeks Duels at Daytona but was a good thing nascar changed it really made it exciting in the end and even though there were three crashes in the closing laps does’nt really change anything because it always happens at Daytona. Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer and David Reutimann finished in the top 5. The race was delayed over 2 hours during the late stages due to a pot hole in the race track in turns 1 and 2 the track has’nt seen a repavement since the 1970’s, now some drivers such as Carl Edwards was saying on fox that he hopes they don’t repave the track because of this. In my opinion we seen the best racing from all of Nascar’s top divisions this year during speedweeks then we have seen in years. So if they could come up with a great way to patch and fix that for a period of time so we can continue to see this racing because it was exciting all day. The race that was moved to a earlier start time and would’ve finished before dark if it was’nt for the track repairs seen a record high 21 lead changes, and several crashes some may say it was bump drafting, but some guys had tire issues was the track to blame? Well we don’t know the series defending champion Jimmie Johnson ended up 35^th after having trouble through the day, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne just a few drivers who did’nt have a good Sunday but ran strong during the past two weeks and the RCR cars really looked strong Sunday with Kevin Harvick & Clint Bowyer and don’t forget Martin Truex Jr and David Reutimann had great runs for MWR Racing. The series will head off to California at Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 500 next Sunday as the season will get into full swing with California and Vegas.
