RUNNING BLOG at NBA ALL STAR SATURDAY NIGHT

5:27 - Charles Barkley starts talking gibberish while Ernie starts gloating about his charities. Let's get this started.

5:28 - Ernie just used the words "Valentine's Night" for the first time.

DENVER NUGGETS VS GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS, NBA

5:32 - Some kind of weird voice announces teams for Haier Shooting Stars. Like anyone cares.

5:36 - Mike Fratello finally says a word while announcing the rules for the competition. He also announces he picked Atlanta to win and Atlanta starts to fail right after that.

5:38 - Reggie Miller disses Mike Fratello on live tv saying, " You could see it in thier eyes." I have to say Fratello's prediction skills are horrible.

5:39 - Team Los Angeles starts off hot, but makes a questionable call by choosing Pauuuuuuuuuuuuu Gasol to make the three.

5:40 - The Govenator of California has been seen on the sidelines. Shouldn't he be solving the budget crisis or something?

5:44 - Mike Fratello insists he actually took Sacremto who are doing just as bad.

5:46 - Mike Fratello now is pissed becuase the Sacremento team has knocked out Atlanta by a second. GO TEXAS!

5:47 - Just one comment, why are WNBA players playing in anything to do with the All - Star game?

5:48 - My least favorite NBA player, but favorite announcer hits the game winner to elimate Mike Fratello's second team.

5:50 - Another horrible Charles Barkley ad..... UGH why do they keep running this?

5:52 - Mike Fratello picks L.A. in the final. So sad they are gonna lose.

5:53 - Texas wins.... Oh, wait Nachi tells me L.A. actually still has to go.

5:54 - Texas, finally is named official champions, if that means anything.

6:01 - Weird voice announces competitors for Skills Challenge while Steve Nash makes funny face.

6:06 - Russell Westbrook starts the Skills Competition and doesn't look bad. By the way, Reggie Miller picked him, which means one thing , WINNER!

6:09 - Mike Fratello picks Steve Nash and Deron Williams????? I guess he wants to curse them both.

6:10 - Nachi wants me to mention that Steve Nash kills this course while Reggie makes fun of Fratello. Because of that he decides to choose Nash over WIlliams.

6:11 - Williams and Nash make it to the final of Skills Challenge.

6:18 - Reggie Miller uses horrible grammer by saying, "It's capable" for a person, as Steve Nash claims the Skills Challenge title.

6:22 - Nachi and I argue over whether the singer is Indian or African to which I respond, "who cares?". We also see a stupid Radioshack ad that makes no sense.

6:24 - Alonzo Mourning tries to hide that he is reading from a teleprompter but it's extremely obvious. Dwyane Wade is the only one who looks like he possibly isn't.

6:25 - My favorite president makes an appearance with his great smile. (HINT: It's not Bill Clinton or Monica Lewinsky)

6:26 - The Grammy's become even less relevant as someone preforming that I have no idea who they are has apparently won 4 Grammy's?????

6:30 - The Haiti relief singer isn't bad, if you're in to singers whose vocal chords sound like they're experiencing earthquakes of their own.

6:33 - Another stupid ad which finds ways to compare NBA skills competitions to Texan cowboys. Really?

6:37 - Now, the real competitions start(or at least the more interesting ones such as Dunk Contest and 3 Point Contest)

6:37 - Before we start, I am picking Danilo Gallinari for the 3 point competition and Shannon Brown for the Dunk Competition.

6:40 - Paul Pierce starts the 3 point competition, not shooting well.

6:47 - Took break for 5 minutes, looks like I missed absolutley nothing.

6:48 - A horrible Burger King ad followed by an amazing Old Spice commercial.

6:49 - My favoirte Gallinari starts off badly, but I still believe!

6:51 - Gallinari finishes well but too little too late as he only reaches 15.

6:54 - After the first round, 3 people go through, not including Gallinari.

7:00 - Pierce is having great second round.

7:02 - Billups eliminated, gonna be hard for anyone to beat 20 but I still believe. Then, I see someone with a weird guy with a really weird tux.

7:04 - According, to Reggie Miller, it is a suprise that Paul Pierce can shoot. DId he watch the 2008 NBA finals?

7:05 - Glenn: "Jeez, I hate that woman announcer." Nachi: "She's a woman?"

7:08 - A lot of horrible ad's. They're trying to fint in as many as they can before the Dunk Contest cause everyone stops watching.

7:09 - Finally, an actual good ad besides that however, its basically the Taco Bell ad over and over again.

7:10 - Weird voice gets the dunk contest started by announcing competitors.

7:15 - Kenny Smith, Haier Shooting Stars Champion, joins the broadcasting crew.

7:17 - The dunking judges are half Dalls no-name "legends" and others are former winners.

7:18 - We find out Demar DeRozan can't speak English.

7:19 - Demar Derozan does an ok dunk for the first one but apparently TNT loves it.

7:21 - Shannon Brown's first dunk doesn't go in so he goes with his second "horrible" option.

7:22 - Gerald Wallace copies Derozan except worse.

7:24 - Nate Robinson does the first great dunk of the night except like always I've seen it before.

7:28 - Shannon Brown completes another bad dunk. It was better than the first one.

7:30 - Gerald Wallace's dunk is good, not great, but probably not enough to get him through to the next round.

7:32 - Here comes Demar Derozan, with a GREAT dunk. Straight tens from every judge. Not bad, Not bad, a pass off the side of the backboard with a windmill dunk.

7:34 - Last dunk of first round, Danilo Gallinari assisting Nate Robinson.  The smallest guy on the floor can really jump as he skyrockets to complete his so-so second dunk.

7:40 - Nate Robinson and Demar Derozan make the final, while Nate Robinson almost makes a crazy dunk but then falls back on a really bad dunk for his second option.

7:42 - Demar Derozan jumps over "teammate X" for a good dunk while he puts the ball in from the glass.

7:42 - Apparently, Nate Robinson and the TNT crew really love Dallas cheerleaders.

7:42 - NOTE TO CHEERLEADERS : Stay away from Barkley, you don't what will happen.

7:44 - Nate Robinson's second dunk is pretty awesome after he puts in a reverse off the glass while using the pom-poms of the cheerleaders as a prop for clebration.

7:44 - The TNT 360 thing is kinda cool, you can actually see from a bird's view.

7:46 - Last dunk of the night unless theres a tie. Derozan tries to jump from free throw line but fails. Then, he jumps from inside line but does a windmill on the way up.

7:47 - Who should win? or later, who should have won? Email us at gnbsports@gmail.com

7:51 - Nate Robinson named Dunk Champion of 2010. Nate has won this competition 3 times which is a first. I still didn't think he was that amazing but it is what it is.

7:52 - Ernie says they are gonna wrap it up so we are too.

7:54 - I agree with Barkley, not a good year for Slam Dunk and Ernie is a great announcer.

7:55 - That's it from Dallas. I'm off to watch the next show, NFL Full Contact. See you at the next chat.
