The Allen Iverson Hate Taken to Another Level.

Antwan BrownFeb 14, 2010

Tonight the hatred towards Allen Iverson was taken to another level by the NBA. Now anyone with some kind of common sense knows that the NBA's executives and officials do not really like Allen Iverson. It has been proven and over again, it was recently proved in Tim Donaghy's book where he talks about how the officials did not like Allen Iverson and made sure he lost in certain games. But tonight it was proven again. The situation Iverson is in is truly unfair and it is very disgusting. The league has been quietly punishing Iverson for about 3 years. They waited till he stopped averaging 30 points a game like they wanted him to and than ate him up and spit him out. The media has been taking shots at Iverson for so long about the type of person he was. Recently the media has taken all sort of shots at Iverson's basketball ability saying that he lost a step and can not be a good player in the league anymore. That is fine everyone knows Iverson gets treated unfairly by the media and he is given a bad wrap but one thing that is not acceptable is disrespecting Allen Iverson's legendary career. Who would do such a thing you think? Well you might want to check out the Decades Best NBA player Poll on NBA.com and read the candidates. Disgustingly Allen Iverson is not included on that list.

The candidates for the best player of the decade in the NBA are Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James and Steve Nash. You would think Allen Iverson is on that list and is a lock for the 4th spot and 5th at least but he wasn't even a candidate? This does not make sense. But than again it is Allen "We talking about practice!" Iverson. The league took the hate towards this man to another level with this poll. Any basketball fan who has watched basketball for the past decade knows that Allen Iverson dominated the past decade. But they have Steve Nash and LeBron James ahead of him ? what a shame.

Iverson has accomplished far too much in this league to not be included on that list. He has accomplished more than James, Nash and maybe even Kevin Garnett. But he still is not included on that list. No disrespect to LeBron James but he should not be on that list, not because he was not good enough but he did not even play the whole decade. Steve Nash who won 2 MVP's is debatable as well because Jason Kidd is very worthy and so is Dirk Nowitzki. But there should be no question about weather Allen Iverson should be on this list or not. Iverson is a lock for the hall of fame and is easily a top 5 player in the past decade and arguably a top 25 player of all time.

Iverson in the past decade: 1 MVP(2001), 10 All-Star selections, 2 time All-Star Game MVP, 3 time steals leader, outstanding averages of 27 ppg(2nd) and 6 apg, about 20,000 points and 4 scoring titles!. Are you kidding me!? a guy did that many things in the decade and was not considered a top 6 let alone top 4 player in the decade? There is something wrong here.

LeBron James in the past decade: 1 MVP(2009), 5 All-Star selections, 2 All-Star game MVP's, about 13,000 points and 1 scoring title. Great resume despite playing only 6 years in the decade but not better than Iverson.

Steve Nash in the past decade: 2 MVP's, 6 All-Star selections, Averaged the most APG in the decade. Thats it. No way has he had a better decade than Iverson.

What were the guys that made this list thinking when they left Iverson out of there. But oh yeah almost forgot this was supposed to happened. Why? because its Allen Iverson. Iverson is the ultimate "bad boy" in NBA history. Iverson did not do what the league wanted him to do. Iverson did not say the right things on tv. Iverson decided he was going to be real and not be angel just so the NBA can look better than the rest of the pro leagues. When Iverson was the face of the league he did what he wanted no matter what the league said. Iverson did not dance for the camera before games. Iverson did not market the NBA, Iverson did not love everyone like Steve Nash.

Iverson made gangster rap albums. Iverson did not show up to practices but he busted his ass for 48 minutes a night so the Sixers could be competitive. Iverson did not take part in NBA Cares. Iverson did not market the NBA like James does and Iverson did not love everybody like Steve Nash. Iverson hung around with "thugs", Iverson had a "scary" entourage everywhere he went. Iverson started the "evil" trend of tattoos and cornrows, Iverson made the league hip-hop, Iverson is the reason there is a dress code.

Now Iverson is unfairly paying for things the league did not like about him. It is disgusting. Iverson did not disrespect the NBA in any way but they are disrespecting him in many ways and this Best Player in the Decade Poll is one of the most disrespectful things towards Iverson. Steve Nash and LeBron James have not done half the things Iverson has and are have not had careers as good as his at all. But the league loves Nash and LeBron so they are going to include them in this but take out the guy they hate.

Fans who are blinded need to realize this is just another subliminal shot at Iverson. Kobe Bryant is clearly the best player of the past decade, Tim Duncan and Shaq follow than it should be between KG and AI followed by Nash or Kidd. But Iverson wasn't what the league wanted and now he is paying for it. Even ESPN who really don't like Iverson a lot ranked Iverson as a top 25 player of all time and he was ranked the 4th best shooting guard of all-time. Iverson is a first ballot Hall of Famer with a legendary resume and is clearly a top 25 player of all-time.

If you sit a person down and erase all the negative thoughts they have about Iverson from their minds and just give them Iverson's career resume there is a 99 percent chance Iverson would be ranked top 4 of the decade and top 20 all-time but it is a cold world we live in and like always it will be Iverson against the world.
