Anderson Silva Vs. Top Light-Heavyweights

Joshua BoykenFeb 14, 2010

Anderson Silva vs. Randy Couture

This would be a dangerous fight for Anderson. Whoever fights Randy is in for a dangerous fight, even considering Randy's age. Silva would punish Randy in the center of the octagon with superior striking ability and speed. Randy would attempt to push him against the fence, and where him down. He would try to drag Anderson to the ground, and punish from there.

The way I see the fight going down is all Anderson. I believe Anderson would avoid the clinch, and if he was taken down he would be able to fight off his back enough to get back to the feet.

Anderson Silva vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Nogueira is new to the UFC, but proved dominate in knocking out Luiz Cane. I believe that Anderson would just be too fight and too good on his feet. I don't see Silva getting submitted if the fight goes to the ground. The only thing we have seen of Nogueira in the UFC is his heavy hands on the feet, and I don't see anyone defeating Silva on his feet.

Anderson Silva TKO 2nd round

Anderson Silva vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

Quinton is a predictable fighter and Anderson would figure him out faster than he did Forrest Griffin. Quinton would look for one big shot, and would fail. Anderson Silva would pick Quinton apart until Quinton would fall apart. Rampage trying to take him down would either be unsuccessful or would lead to a submission on Quinton. Quinton has been destroyed by knees by Wanderlei Silva twice before, so if Anderson can get him in the clinch the fight will not be long at all.

Anderson Silva TKO 1st

Anderson Silva vs. Rashad Evans

Rashad Evans would be difficult if he resorts back to his wrestling. His only chance is to resort back to his wrestling. Rashad is just as good if not better wrestler than Dan Henderson and Dan gave Anderson a very tough fight. If Rashad tries to stand up and fight Anderson he will be beaten just as bad as he was against Lyoto Machida.

This is a very difficult choice to make, because you don't know how Rashad is going to fight Anderson.

Anderson Silva TKO 3rd (Just to be safe I won't make it the first round.)

Anderson Silva vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

Rua is a very intelligent fighter, and will put up a very tough and honorable fight against Silva. Silva will have to find away to neutralize the leg kicks. Rua, looking at his last fight, could be dangerous and the most difficult fight yet.

I believe depending on Rua's last fight he would give Silva more than he wants. Rua is a very tough opponent, and could neutralize the stand up game. If it went to the ground Rua is no easy task down there either. Finishing Silva would be difficult, but winning a decision could be very reasonable. This fight could be very close, and I could see Anderson pulling out a decision. I am not predicting that though.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua Split Decision

Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto Machida

This is the most intriguing match up in all of mma. They have very similar fighting styles with very contested ground game also. This fight is so hard to pick between. Both fighters would throw up crazy combinations and awesome moves. This fight might not be the most exciting but it would be intriguing and bought.

Picking a winner isn't actually picking a winner. This is one of the only fights where you can not actually pick who will win the fight, because it is impossible to know. While in the UFC neither of these fighters have lost or even appeared staggered from a shot on the feet. They both have been in difficult spots,  but always powered threw it. Arguably the two best fighters in MMA today would be the toughest fight to pick in MMA today.

The fight should never occur, due to these two extraordinary fighters being from the same camp. They are best friends and have publicly stated that there is no chance of them squaring off in the octagon.

Lyoto Machida UD

I can't explain why, I just believe that Lyoto would pull it off. This fight would be very competitive, and just like the Rua fight the winner is a toss up.
