Why The Cavs Shouldn't Trade This Trade Deadline

Rohit RaviFeb 13, 2010

In my opinion, this Cavaliers lineup cannot get any better. No matter who is in at any position, they have depth, which is unusual for a team who is involved with almost every single team in trade talks, but who are they willing to trade.

The Cavaliers have been in major trade talks for the past few years. First they got Delonte, Joe Smith, and Wally Sczerbiak. Then came Mo Williams, and after that Shaq. Out of all those, only Joe Smith has left( Wally is still under contract of the Cavs, although he left from injury, in other words, Cavs can trade him, to get a player.) Now this Cavs team, in my opinion, is perfect. You cannot get a better starter and 2nd strign center, as that also goes with JJ and Varajao at PF. At SF we have LBJ, and Jawad. at SG we have Boobie, West, AP, Jawad, LBJ, Mo, and countless else. If we want a shooting lineup, we can put Mo, Boobie, West, Lebron, and Big Z. If they want a tall lineup, we can have Lebron at PG. Mike Brown has done an amazing job with rotations, and it would completely mess up the chemistry of the team if one of the role players- JJ, Big Z, Varajao, or Boobie were traded. Now I will state the main trading pieces:

The number one person in trade talks is JJ. Hickson is developing into one of the best Power Forwards in the Eastern Conference, if not the NBA. He can shoot the 15 footer, and can HUGE dunks. He also adds finesse to the starting lineup. Varajao is more of an energy player, but Hickson can act like a mini-Shaq, with the spin moves, and the jump hooks. In other words...DON"T TRADE HICKSON!

The next piece is Big Z. If there is a trade, Big Z will definitely be included. He has an expiring contract, and can be bought out of it, which will clear cap space. So if there is a straight up trade, with Big Z and a player from another team, then the other team can buy out the contract, and he can sign again with the Cavs. Teams like the Nets, and the Knicks will want to do this so they can clear cap space for the free-agency extravaganza.

The only trade I would pursue is Wally Sczerbiak. Currently, he is under contract with CBS, he is a commentator for College Basketball, but if h returns to the NBA he has to go through the Cavaliers, and he wants to return soon, after his ankle fully heals.

If any trade news brakes, I will cover it so stay tuned for the next week.
