Martin Kampmann suffered a cut above his right eye over the weekend, forcing the welterweight off of the UFC 111 fight card against Ben Saunders. Jake Ellenberger will be stepping in for the injured Kampmann.
A photo of the Kampmann cut was posted on Combat Clothing's twitter page. Needless to say, it's a pretty nasty cut. Kampmann is not expected to be out for long, and is anticipating a possible May return.
Ellenberger, his replacement, has a 1-1 record in the UFC. The welterweight lost a close split decision in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 19 against Carlos Condit, but redeeming himself at UFC 108 with a TKO victory over Mike Pyle.
UFC 111 is scheduled to take place on March 27 in Newark, New Jersey.
