Dallas Cowboys: Key To Hosting Super Bowl
If the Dallas Cowboys plan on hosting the Super Bowl in their own stadium in 2010. Dallas will need to make those changes on the depth chart, making Wade Phillips one of the best coordinators in the game.
Wade Phillips is one heck of a defensive coordinator. Last season Wade Phillips and the defense were ranked number one in points against, with 250 points. Towards the end of the year Dallas really put on a show on defense. The last four games of the regular season, they let up a whopping 12 points per game.
Hopefully, Dallas can bring in a full time starter that fits the offense or defensive scheme. Looking in free agency or in the draft, which one would be more ideal?
I think the draft would be the best option for the Cowboys. Drafting Mike Iupoti with the 27th overall pick. Drafting a 3-4 defensive tackle in Cam Thomas, he has the ability to play defensive end in the traditional 3-4 scheme. In the third and fourth round they need the depth at safety and middle linebacker. Guys like middle linebacker Pat Angerer and safety Kam Chancellor would be great spots to fill on the depth chart.
The defense could do more to help the offense, by creating more turnovers. It would help the offense and Tony Romo, in scoring position from the 50 yard line and on. Despite cutting their own turnovers way down. The Cowboys only had a plus 2 gap in turnovers.
Creating turnovers this coming season would be gigantic. They created 21 turnovers last year, 13th overall in the league. They need to add more sacks, to generate more fumbles and interception.
When Dallas lost a total of six games (one playoff) last year. They gave up 13 turnovers to only taking four. So in that notion, creating turnovers on defense will assist the offense to be the number one rated offense in 2010.
