Denver Broncos Mock Draft V3.0 McDaniels To Shock Us Again?
With the 12th pick in the 2009 draft, the Denver Broncos select:
Knowshon Moreno, Running Back, Georgia.
"...WHAT?!?! He picked a RUNNING BACK?!?! Orakpo was still on the board!!! He could have gotten Cushing!!!. We have like 8 running backs already!!!."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
These are only a few of the thoughts that ran through my head when McDaniels first drafted Knowshon last year. Needless to say, I was shocked. From what I read, so were many of my fellow Bronconians. I only bring this up because I am trying to make a point. Last year, when we were on the board, I was sure we were going to pick Orakpo or Cushing. However, McDaniels shocked us all and selected someone who was going to help our offense. He shocked us again when he traded our first for an undersized cornerback. He surprised yet again when he traded for a tight end that was projected to be a low round pick. As I try to mock this draft, i asked myself a question: What could McDaniels do to shock the Bronco universe yet again?
In this mock draft we have resigned Kyle Orton, Elvis Dumervil, Matt Prater, Chris Kuper and Brandon Marshall. That is right. We resign Brandon Marshall to a 4 year deal with tons of clauses.
We trade Scheffler to Buffalo for a 3rd round pick.
We trade Peyton Hillis to Washington for a 5th round pick.
1. Ndamukong Suh
2. Gerald McCoy
3. Eric Berry
4. Sam Bradford
5. Russel Okung
6. Jimmy Clausen
7. Joe Haden
8. Derrick Morgan
9. Anthony Davis
Note that Rolando McClain still on the board...
1st Round Pick # 10/11-
With the 10th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, The Denver Broncos select...
Dez Bryant. Wide Receiver, Oklahoma St.
History repeats itself. I can already hear the: WHAT?!?! We just resigned Marshall!!! WHY WOULD HE DRAFT ANOTHER WIDE RECEIVER?!?! It would bring just as much if not more controversy to the Moreno pick last year. The majority of the fans will not like this pick. However, I do like it a lot.
Bryant is a great talent who could be paired with Marshall, and Royal to lead what would be arguably be the best trio of young wide receivers in the league. Should we pick McClain? Probably. McClain is a superior Linebacker who could come in and contribute to our defense right away. He is the best linebacker in the draft. Logic would dictate that we pick McClain. However, McDaniels has shown that he doesn't always pick what logic dictates. So he picks Bryant who moves opposite of Marshall while Royal shifts to the slot. This bolsters our offense greatly. Bryant is also an insurance policy. Just in case something happens to Marshall again, we aren't left high and dry like we were in the final game.
2nd Round Pick # 45
Vladimir Ducasse OG, UMass
This was a tough pick. I debated between a few players that included: Brandon Spikes, Maurkice Pouncey, Chad Jones, and Colt McCoy. However, Vladimir would probably fit us best. Our offensive line became a BIG problem late in the year. We need an upgrade on the line and Ducasse could come in and contribute right away. He is a big strong Guard who had a nice showing at the Senior Bowl.
Projected Trade
Denver trades the 3rd Rounder from Buffalo and their own 3rd rounder to Arizona for the 58th pick and a 4th.
2nd Round Pick # 58
Tim Tebow QB, Florida
I can hear it now. With the 58 pick in the 2010 draft. The Denver Broncos select: Tim Tebow Quarterback from the University of Florida. As thousands of Bronco fans are cursing and yelling at their TV's, I am clapping my hands and pumping my fist in the air. Oh the controversy.
Tebow is definitely going to be a project. However, is there anyone better then McDaniels to embark on such a project? McDaniels worked with Matt Cassel while he was with the Patriots. Cassel was a backup quarterback from USC who hadn't touched a football during a game since high school. However, McDaniels made him successful. Imagine what he could do with Tebow, arguably one of the best college players in history. Who would take on such an ambitious challenge? Who else but the young hot shot coach who made a name for himself by working with QB's. I firmly believe that McDaniels could teach Tebow how to play quarterback in the NFL. If nothing else, Tebow would bring a nice addition to the Wild Horses that McDaniels employed last year. Tebow would also bring pletny of excitement to Mile High.
4th Round
Micah Johnson ILB, Kentucky
This guy could be a steal wherever he goes. Micah Johnson has one of the biggest upsides of anybody in the draft. He is a muscular, highly athletic linebacker who could turn out to be a great player. He doesn't have the best timed speed and his instincts have lacked on the field a bit, but with some work he could be a great addition to the Bronco linebackers. Minor durability issues have also paid a tribute to his drop in this spot. If we don't pick up McClain or Spikes then we should aim for Johnson around here.
4th Round from Arizona
LeGarrette Blount RB, Oregon
Blount is climbing up draft boards after his Senior Bowl performance. He is a powerful runner who could give us a different look in the running game. His infamous punch will draw character questions. However, did you see the footage? Did you see that guy get in Blount's face after they had already won? I certainly don't blame Blount for punching that guy. Now, should he have punched him? Absolutely not. However, in that environment, after such a heartbreaking loss, his temper got the best of him. I don't think his character flaws are as big as scouts hype it up to be.
5th Round
Jeff Byers C, USC
He is another guy who has helped his stock in the Senior Bowl. His versatility as a Guard or a Center has made him more appealing. He might not be here at this position. However, if he is then Denver would do good to draft him. He could be the heir to Casey after he retires.
6th Round
Jimmy Graham TE, Miami
With Scheffler gone, we could use another TE. I have a strong suspicion that McDaniels is going to go back to the Patriot roots and go after Ben Watson. However, if he doesn't then he might take a shot at Jimmy Graham. Jimmy is 6 ft 8 and is extremely raw. He has just 1 year of football experience. However, he has a ton of upside. He constantly hustles and gives a ton of effort when he blocks. He has soft hands which McDaniels could use as a very attractive red zone target. With the veteran, Bob Ligashesky taking the tight end coaching position, he could mold Graham into a very useful tight end.
7th Round
Zoltan Mesko P, Michigan
This is the no brainer pick. Most 7th round picks have difficulty making the teams that draft them. However, if Denver was to draft a punter in the 7th round, that punter would have a very good chance of making the team. Mesko is one of the best punters in the draft. He would be great value at this position.
So to recap, I have the Broncos selecting:
Dez Bryant WR from Oklahoma St.
Vladimir Ducasse OG from UMass
Tim Tebow QB from Florida
Micah Johnson ILB from Kentucky
LeGarrette Blount RB from Oregon
Jeff Byers OG/C from USC
Jimmy Graham TE from Miami
Zoltan Mesko P from Michigan
I would be absolutely thrilled with this draft. However, that is just one Bronco fan's opinion. I would love to hear what my beloved, fellow Bronconians think.
