Dallas Mavericks Fan Diary: Feb. 10
Feb. 10, 2009
Dear Diary,
We lost to the Denver Nuggets 127-91 last night. Surprise! Surprise!
The game was so awful that I turned it off at midway through the third quarter.
Starting center Eric Dampier was still unable to play; his bad knee just won't let him go. Eduardo Najera started in his place.
Unexpectedly starting small-forward Shawn Marion was a last-minute scratch as he was having back spasms. Josh Howard started in his place.
Six minutes into the first quarter, Drew Gooden subbed for Najera, and I would not see Eddie again—unless he was put in the fourth.
You can easily say the Mavericks were not in this one; they never led (another surprise).
By the time I turned the game off, Denver had a 30-plus point lead, working on 40. I didn't find out the final score till this morning.
It became too painful for to watch my Mavericks being run over and over by the larger and stronger Nuggets' frontcourt.
I saw little hustling, little energy, and little concern from the Mavericks players. They looked like a bunch of old men! Where is their pride?
The Mavericks should be mad at the way they are playing right now. Don't give me any B.S. about the players being bored.
Well now, the Mavericks will have a week to get over this spanking from the Nuggets as we break for the All-Star festivities.
My Mav buddy and I are pondering trading teams in jest, but if the Mavericks keep losing, we might have to make good on this threat.
After all, who has money to burn in this economy to pay to see their team lose?
