The Nasty R Crew...Which freshmen will impact in 2010..

"Intelligent recruiting"..that sums up coach Schiano's 2010 recruiting class were some 24 kids pledged their LOI to play ball for Rutgers. It seems that coach Schiano filled-in areas of "need" rather than just sign any "body" to plug into a hole.."Very smart"!

However which among those 24 "newbees" will make any appreciable impact in 2010.?.

Here's my top 5 list list...(With a few honorable selections)

1- OT- Chris Fonti... - Greg Schiano will send three OL to the NFL in 2010, Therefore it goes without saying there's a need here...Enter The 6 foot 7, 305 pound Chris Fonti...While he may not be the 2nd coming of Anthony Davis, he's very athletic according to scouts, and HUGE..Looks for Chis to see considerable playing time in 2010..

2- Brandon (Palm Tree) Coleman - Was coach Schiano's first four star signee of the class. Brandon posses something that not even coach Lombardi can teach, SIZE and lots of it!  This super athelete from Bishop Mcnamara HS, also brings a nice 32-inch vertical, and 4.50 forty speed to the table.. However barring injury, It will be very difficult for Brandon to crack the starting 2 WR spots, as those belong to Sanu and Harrison's to lose. He does have a nice shot at the 3rd WR spot in a 4 or 5 wide set..

3- Jawan Jamison - Look for this 3-star athlete to see significant playing time, if Mason Robinson and Kordell Young are unable to play due to bad kneesl. Jawan will be needed to provide De' Antwan Williams a breather. ESPN says Jamison is a superb physical player.

4- Tejay Johnson - We all know "SPEED KILLS" and Tejay has a filthy amout of it, 4.35 forty. If Tejay is not redshirted in 2010, look for him to provide coach Shiano with the answer at kick and punt returning duties..

5- Chas Dodd - Look for this intelligent QB to be firmly ensconced as Savage's 2nd string back-up by opening day.

6- Rashad Knight - While it's going to be very difficult for anyone of this class to crack a starting spot in coach Schiano's loaded secondary, this wonder 4-star super athlete has a chance to do just that, should the projected starters, Logan Ryan or Darrell Givens get lazy.
