T.O. Is a Hall Of Famer

Jason stubbsFeb 9, 2010

I am so so tired of people bashing Terrell Owens aka T.O. It's one thing to not like the guy, but not acknowledging his talent is another. Really it's absolutely ludicrous.  I don't like a lot of players in professional sports, either because of their demeanor or character and attitude issues, but I always acknowledge their skills and abilities and their greatness.  As a sportswriter, follower, and just as a fan, anyone in their right mind should know better and not let their stupidity override their judgment.  T.O., love him or hate him, will go down in history as one of the greatest receivers ever to play in the NFL. That's right! Ever!!! Skill wise, the knock on T.O. is that he drops passes. This is undeniably true. But what else does he do on the field? Everything else he does on the field substantially outweighs that fact. He is a game breaker, a game changer. He can go long and he can go short. Not to mention, he goes across the middle which most receivers dread.  His yards after the catch are off the charts as rather than falling after the catch, he endures contact and breaks tackles.  He's one of the most explosive receivers to ever play.  One has never had to wonder if T.O. will show up on gameday. Not ownership, not the coach, and not the players on the team.  He doesn't take plays off. His ego to be the best won't let him.  He plays big in all big game situations; San Fran playoff games, Philly Superbowl (with a broken foot), tenure at Dallas, including the 44-6 beatdown against Philly where playoff implications were on the line and he was the only player to actually bring his jersey to the game.   How can one argue against his stats. His all-time stats might I add.  He's 6th all-time in Career receptions, 3rd all-time in receiving TDs, and 3rd all-time in receiving yards.  In last two categories, only one person not named Rice is ahead of him.  How can one look at those stats and disagree that those are not hall of fame worthy numbers?  Moss has 4 First Team All Pro selections. T.O has 5. Moss is 5,000 yards behind T.O. in receiving yards. I'm not comparing the two, i'm just putting their numbers in perspective. T.O. is simply one of the best to ever do it. Use your brains people.
