Randy Orton Can The #1 Heel Become The Number #1 Face?

SeanFeb 8, 2010

The past two months have shown signs firstly of a tweener Randy to an Anti-hero Randy and now after watching another ambush from Sheamus on Raw it gave me thoughts on a few aspects.

One is that Cody Rhodes has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth that maybe he is in cahoots with Sheamus, but more importantly what are the usual signs of a face turn or growing crowd pops?

No that can happen even at a heel level sometimes.

the usual signs, take John Cena for instance, the heel gets the cheap shot on the face sometimes more than once leading up to the Pay Per View where the face shines as super Cena has and always does and that is exactly what is starting to happen week by week with Randy.

If you watch his matches more and more, he is starting to lessen the dirty and cheap heel tactics more and more and trust his wrestling ability.

Would it be so bad to see Rhodes & Dibiase be the heels in a feud with Randy?

I say no.

Actually, I would actually prefer to see the young talents on the rise start to trust in themselves to the point that arrogance and hunger starts to turn you down the wrong path.

I mean they have learnt from the best in that regard and WWE have learnt trying to turn young talents into main-event Faces at an early stage does not always work (Randy Orton 2004) so why not make a good storyline give the experienced wrestler the Face part and run with it.

The main thought through everyone's mind is the fact that Orton is such a top tier Heel that Legacy (mainly Dibiase) would make a face turn and finally stand up to the mentor that has pushed them around for sometime.

It would be just like evolution's outcome with Orton and Batista but if you took a good look after Randy was screwed at the Royal Rumble that the Crowd not only chanted mainly for him but they also erupted with an "RKO" chant when facing up to Rhodes and Dibiase after the match.

The last time Randy started to get decent crowd pops at a heel stage the WWE ran with it and gave him the World Heavyweight Championship at 24 a chance to be a main-event Face instead the outcome was horrid, Orton lost the title soon after and never won it back from HHH and was pushed back down and switched back to a heel status.

But would that really be the outcome this time?

Nearly six years have past Randy's character and emotions on-screen have grown to a whole another level from the brash young and arrogant Heel he once was and I'm more than certain that Randy would surely surpass being a great face if not the top face.

Cena has been the marketing super Cena for so long that people want a change for him and why not Randy take the mark at the top?

I'm not saying he would have a "wont back down", "I wrestle for the fans" type face I'm talking about taking what stone cold invented and being the number one face with an anti-hero angle and as of now if you haven't noticed WWE is already started to put the gears in motion for Orton to turn.

WWE has just made sure Orton is around for a long time with paychecks like last years Wrestlemania match with HHH of $600,000.

It's a 10 year mega deal with a huge down-side and with TNA trying to even compete Randy will get a very big reward for showing such loyalty that does not always exist in wrestling anymore, and what better way than putting him on top of the WWE mountain once again.
