Michigan Monday: Two Wolverines, Two Super Bowl Rings

Two Wolverines, Two Super Bowl Rings

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints and the two Wolverines on their roster, starter at center Jonathan Goodwin and WR (did not play) Adrian Arrington. I would also like to extend congratulations to Mike Hart, who got cut twice this past season. He managed to persevere and get two carries in the Super Bowl and played on special teams for the Colts. Former Wolverine Mike Mallory and former assistant Terry Malone are also assistant coaches for the Saints.

Mysterious Recruitment of Latwan Anderson

The mysterious recruitment of Latwan Anderson a five-star safety out of Cleveland. First, Latwan transferred into the Ted Ginn, Sr., football program at Glenville last year. Then Latwan camped at Michigan in the summer and showed some interest in the Wolverines. That interest faded fast, and West Virgina started to become his leader, which led to a verbal commitment.

The rumor was that Latwan's family was giving him some pressure to stay in-state and attend Ohio State. So he didn't sign his LOI on NSD, and the reports are that he is planning a visit to USC.

Now, this weekend, he said he was planning to "shock the world" and listed Michigan as his top school. Michigan Insider from WTKA /Michigan's Scout site Sam Webb said there is some interest from Michigan, but the Wolverines would not offer unless Latwan visits Ann Arbor.

There are also some reports out there that Latwan's OSU offer was pulled. I guess we will see how this one pans out. If Seantrel Henderson and Latwan Anderson want to be Wolverines, I'm sure the Wolverines can find some room.

Nick Sheridan Still a Wolverine

I don't believe I have spoken about this here on BHB yet, but it seems that Nick will be a grad assistant for the Wolverines this year and will not suit up as a back-up QB. After everything is said and done, Nick is a real Michigan man. He has given all he has to U of M and now will even be a grad assistant just so he can continue to be part of the program.

Nick gave his heart and soul for the Wolverines —he just didn't have the skills to be a QB. He is a smart kid, and I hope he works with Devin Gardner on learning RR's offense.

Basketball Limps to Finish Line

The Michigan Basketball team continues to disappoint this year. Ranked in the top 20 after a trip and a win in the NCAA Tournament last year, this team continues to underachieve. There are many reasons why this team has performed poorly, but most of the blame has to go to one man and that is John Beilein.

Don't get me wrong, I think John is one of the 10 best NCAA coaches in the country. He just has had a huge miss with this team this year. When a player doesn't step up as a leader, the head coach needs to fill that role.

This team has been asleep for most of the year, and that falls on the head coach. As this Michigan team continues to limp to the finish line, I'm hoping he understands what he needs to fix for 2011.
