Williams Mock Draft 2.0 (2 Rounds)

william CaprioFeb 7, 2010

I made a few changes from my first mock draft after the senior bowl. I think this years draft will see a lot of trades between picks and players (since there won't be many good FA's this year). So here is my second mock draft.

Stl. Louis Rams

DT Ndamukong Suh-There has been a lot of talk coming from St. Louis that the Rams want Vick.  If they get Vick there will be no doubt they take Suh here.  It seems like they are just finding a reason to say they aren't taking a QB, that means they probably take Suh here anyway.

With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Celtics' fourth-quarter comeback falls short in Game 7 loss to 76ers

Detroit Lions

T Russell Okung- With all the talk coming from the Lions that there happy with Backus as there LT many would believe the Lions will take McCoy here, however I think they are giving everyone a smoke screen and will take Okung here.  If they want to keep Stafford healthy they are going to need to get a LT/

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

DT Gerald McCoy- The Bucs will be jumping for joy if one the two top tackles make it to 3.  McCoy fills a need and some have him rated higher then Suh, the Bucs defense would instantly be upgraded with this pick.  If McCoy does go 2 then the Bucs take Berry or trade down.

Washington Redskins

QB Sam Bradford- This pick kind of bugs me, I'd like to give the Redskins an o-lineman but just don't see one going here (unless Okung is available). So it comes down to the two QB's and Eric Berry, I think Shanahan is smart when it comes to the draft and would take a lineman over a QB, however the Redskins still need a QB and Bradford, if healthy, will likely be the best QB in the draft.

Kansas City Cheifs

S Eric Berry- The Cheifs at 5 may be getting the best player in the draft, kind of like they did in 08, how's that working out. I think Berry grades out better as a pro than Dorsey did and he helps the defense at a position of need.  I would like to think that if Okung fell here the Cheifs would take him but even if he does drop here the Cheifs may still take Berry.

Seattle Seahawks

QB Jimmy Clausen- The Seahawks would love Berry here and may even trade up to get him, but since I don't do trades I have them taking Clausen. Hasselback didn't look so good this past year and there are no more connections between him and the coaches, so Pete Carrol will want to pick his QB and Clausen is that guy.

Cleveland Browns

CB Joe Haden- Secondary is a big need for the Browns and while I think Holmgren would  like to take a QB, they will wait and grab a shutdown corner.  Rolando McClain is also possible here, but Corner is a bigger need.

Oakland Raiders

Anthony Davis- I've talked with some Raider fans and have heard they would be extremely upset if the Raiders picked an o-lineman and want a guy for the defense. I don't think Al Davis cares what the fans think and takes Anthony Davis. Davis has had questions about his work ethic, but so did Smith last year and he went 6th the upside is too good to pass up.

Buffalo Bills

T Bryan Bulaga- I really don't think the Bills would like this scenario.  I think they would much rather have a QB here but since both are gone the take the best T on the board.  The Bills are switching to a 3-4 and would like to take a NT here but any NT here would be a stretch.  If Schobel retires I think the Bills take McClain, I don't think he will be so I think they take Bulaga.

Jacksonville Jaguars

DE Derrick Morgan- I originally had the Jags taking Brian Price, which I think can still happen, but Derrick Morgan gives them a pass rusher, which is considered more valuable then a DT. Don't be surprised to see the Jags to trade back and pick up a second round pick, which they would use on Tebow.

Denver Broncos

WR Dez Bryant- With losing Mike Nolan the broncos should get as many Defensive players as possible, but Brandon Marshall will likely be traded or not even tendered and sign somewhere else, so they will have to replace him.  Some experts rate him higher than they had Crabtree rated, Broncos take a chance on him and hope a year layoff doesn't hurt.

Miami Dolphins
ILB Rolando McClain- Miami would be thrilled if McClain fell to them and would jump on him.  Only other player the Dolphins would consider is Dan Williams, but McClain is rated higher right now, my pick for defensive rookie of the year.
San Fransisco 49ers
T Trent Williams- I don't think Trent Williams should go this high, however I think he is the best RT in the draft and thats a need for the 49ers. While I think the 49ers will look at Bruce Campbell, I think injury questions will come up and the fact that he is better suited for the left side.  So they take Williams
Seattle Seahawks
RB C.J. Spiller- This pick could easily be Bruce Campbell but Spiller's explosiveness is to good to pass up. If I were a GM I wouldn't take a RB in the 1st round, unless he was a Chris Johnson type player, that is exactly what Spiller is.
New York Giants
DT Brian Price- It's being rumored the Giants are looking to move up and get McClain, if that were to happen I'd expect either Buffalo or Jacksonville picking here.  But since I don't do trades I'll give the Giants the best DT on the board in Brian Price. I think Price could be a surprise top ten pick so I think the Giants would be lucky to get him here.
Tennessee Titans
DE Carlos Dunlap- Dunlap has the skills and size to be a top five pick, but questions about him being lazy causes him to drop. I think Dunlaps stock will go up with his workouts and will be considered the second best DE in the draft.  The Titans need a DE and could be a nice addition.
San Fransisco 49ers
S Earl Thomas-The 49ers help out there secondary by grabbing Thomas.  San Fran gas an aging secondary and Thomas has the skills to start right away and contribute.  QB could have been taken but Alex Smith showed enough to be given another chance.
Atlanta Falcons
DE Jason Pierre Paul- I think we can Jamal Anderson has been a bust so far in his career and next to John Abraham the Falcons don't have a guy that rush the QB.  I've seen Paul going as high as 10, I don't think a one year wonder should go that high, but his potential is enough for Atlanta here.
Pittsburgh Steelers
CB Donavon Warren-I think the Steelers would like to take an o-lineman here but Warren could be to good to pass up.  The Steelers don't have much in the way of a corner so the Steelers fill a need as well.
Houston Texans
WR Arrelious Benn-Not the biggest need for the Texans, but if they lose Kevin Walter in Free Agency they're going to need another WR.  I think Benn's stock has dropped due to Illinois not having steady QB play, I had him as the #1 WR heading into 09, I think his stock will rise throughout workouts and the combine.  Trade watch with this pick. Dan Williams is possible but only if the Texans have another WR in place.
Cincinnati Bengals
TE Jermaine Gresham-Cincy's defense played well this season and are only going to get better, that being said Carson Palmer sure would love to have a TE.  It would just add another weapon to their offense, their aren't many needs on the Bengals but TE is one, if a top D-lineman falls to them that may be the pick.  This is also another pick to watch for a trade.
New England Patriots
OLB Jerry Hughes-Patriots continue to add pieces to their D.  With the likely release of Adalius Thomas the Patriots will need a LB and Hughes is the highest rated rush linebacker and fills a need for the Patriots
Green Bay Packers
T Bruce Campbell-The Packers could go with a few different picks here, but I see the o-line being the biggest need.  Campbell is a player that I've seen picked in the top ten and in others in the second.  I think if he can prove his knee won't be a problem he will certainly be a 1st and GB could be getting a steal.
Philadelphia Eagles
DT Dan Williams- If Dan Williams drops to 23 it would be a pretty big surprise.  I just don't see too many teams jumping on him, many would want him but would pass for a bigger need or player with a bigger upside.  DT is not the biggest need for the Eagles and they don't run a 3-4 but the value here is just to good.
Baltimore Ravens
WR Damian Williams-Ravens have two major needs, CB and WR.  Williams is the best WR available at this point and with no WR under contract for next year, except Mason who is considering retirement WR becomes the biggest need on the Ravens. Watch for them to be a team that may make a trade, I say possibly trading up.
Arizona Cardinals
DE/OLB Brandon Graham- The senior bowl MVP went from a late 2nd early 1st rd prospect to late 1st early 2nd after his performance at the senior bowl.  With the retirement of Kurt Warner and a hole a LT I would think Arizona's best bet would be to draft a LT, however th Cardinals are also likely to lose Karlos Dansby and may be trading Boldin and Dockett, so for a team coming off back to back NFC West titles they are looking at re-building.
Dallas Cowboys
G Mike Iupati- The Cowboys left side of the o-line is solid, the right side, not so much.  The Cowboys don't have a ton of needs but they could use a G, the only other pick I could see the Cowboys going with here is a NT, since one isn't really worth a 1st rd pick besides Dan Williams, the Cowboys take the best interior lineman.
San Diego Chargers
RB Jahvid Best-LT has come out and said he feels he played his last game with the Chargers.  In the NFL teams need two RB's and with LT likely gone and given the small size of Sporles, the Chargers are likely going to draft a RB. Best is playmaker and will be an upgrade over LT, (LT from last year) although you never know what the Chargers are going to do.
New York Jets
WR Golden Tate- Even if the Jets bring Edwards back they really don't have a #2 WR, Tate can be a really good #2 and possibly overtake Edwards as the #1.  A D-lineman is also possible here, but the defense is the Jets strong point, they need to get some weapons on offense.
Minnesota Vikings
C/G Maurkice Pouncey-Watching the Vikings fumble away a trip to super bowl was bad and the fact that they have one the leagues best backs and can't run the ball is even worse.  The Vikings get themselves a guy that can play either G or C.  This will give the Vikings one of the best lines in football and WHEN Favre comes back he will be even better protected.
Indianapolis Colts
OLB Sean Weatherspoon- Weatherspoon and Brandon Graham both had great senior bowls and both are now 1st rounders. Weatherspoon is a great fit for the Colts, as being a team in the Superbowl the Colts don't have too many needs, but OLB is one of them. I was going to give the Colts Taylor Mays but since nobody seems to know what position he is going to play I think Weatherspoon is the pick.
New Orleans Saints
OLB Navarro Bowman- I think the same thing here as I do with the Colts, one exception, the Saints could use a DT or OLB and if they part with Grant a DE. Bowman is rated high and would be a good fit for the Saints, Houston could be the pick but I think there are many good DT's in the draft. not so many good 4-3 OLB's so they take Bowman.
