Super Bowl: Football Fan's Ultimate Holiday!

The day is finally here. 

Regardless if your team is playing or not, there is no other day in football that is as much anticipated as the Super Bowl.

Right now, hometown fans of the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts are sending whatever cosmic karma, good feelings, prayers, and hopes toward their team to bring home the Lombardi trophy.

In other cities, fans that have moved away from their respective cities are donning their team colors and either hosting a Super Bowl party or attending one.

For the rest of us, whose teams are on the outside looking in, we watch, wishing it was our team that was in there.

Grills are being fired up, extra beer being stocked and a seemingly endless supply of munchies are being laid out.

Big talk among the guys are going on while throwing a football around in the street.  And you know darn well regardless of the age, all of us are some player on the field in Miami either throwing, catching or running for the game winning TD. 

It's OK, you can admit it.  We'll just keep that little secret between us.

Betting pools are being formed, squares being drawn with either dice or playing cards being used to determine the numbers and where they go.

As a fan of one of the worst franchises over the last decade, the Detroit Lions, I have to pull for the New Orleans Saints.  Considering how awful they were from their inception in 1967 to 1987, how can I not be pulling for them?

Many football fans consider the Super Bowl a national holiday.  No other sport has as much extravaganza surrounding it nor does any other sport have as much celebration involved in it. 

If it was somehow possible to do in the NBA, MLB or even the NHL, can you imagine big mane musical acts such as Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen or The Who performing during a break?

Ah, Super Bowl Sunday.  The day every football fan, die-hard or occasional, looks forward to.  To be with good friends, drink a little, eat a lot and just have a good time.
