Langston Walker, Oakland Raiders "Heavy Weight"
Years ago, I saw a man that I thought was a "jolly green giant." His name was Ernie Ladd, and he was 6-foot-9, and he weighed in at 290 lbs. Ladd was from Franklin, Louisiana.
Well, there is a man on the Oakland Raiders team who is 6-foot-8, and he weighs 366 lbs. His name is Langston Walker, and he is a big man, indeed.
While having a little fun with the numbers, I learned that the total weight of the Oakland Raiders team is 15,211 lbs. That is nearly 8 tons.

Do all of these men fly on the same airplane? What tonnage!
The average weight of our Oakland Raiders team is 249.36 lbs.
Out of curiosity, I compared JaMarcus Russell's weight with the average weight of all of the 61 men on the roster. Russell's weight is above the group average.
Two teams are going to fight it out in the Super Bowl this Sunday. What is their weight and average?
The total weight of the entire Indianapolis Colts team is 15,999 lbs, while the average for the team is 242.409 lbs.
The total weight of the New Orleans Saints team is 16,902 lbs, and the average for the team is 244.96 lbs.
Well, if weight is important and is somehow a determinant of the success of a team, then the Oakland Raiders would be ranked high because our team has a higher average, 249.36 lbs.
Another interesting fact is that neither of the Super Bowl contenders have a player who weights 366 lbs. Walker, on the Oakland Raiders roster, is one of the bigger players in the NFL. Is that a good thing or not?
One trivial conclusion that can be draw from this "fun study" is that the Oakland Raiders is loaded with a few "heavy weights."
Now, here is the question: Is that good or not?
