Joe Theismann: You're Half the Person Tim Tebow Is
Ah, at last we can get some meaningful insight into the Tim Tebow, "Can He or Can't He" NFL drama. But now, we have the font of all things NFL, Mr. Joe "my middle name is moron" Theismann.
Theismann, speaking on a Jacksonville radio station felt compelled to show us all again how smart he is by trashing Tim Tebow, the Gator coaching staff, beaches and palm trees.
Apparently Average Joe is no fan of Tim. According to Yahoo Sports, Theismann commented on Tebow with all the class of a jellyfish.
He said that Tebow's mechanics are "poor" and noted that the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner should leave the game with his "rock star status preserved."
Theismann suggested that Tebow "retire" while he still is king of the land. He even took a chance to punk Urban Meyer and his staff by saying they had "no clue" on how to prepare a quarterback for "the next level."
"Obviously at Florida they don't teach throwing the football," said Theismann.
Wow Joe, tell us all how you really feel!
I guess the question is, why did Theismann take an opportunity at a radio station in Tebow's back yard to bash him over the head with baseball bat?
Does Theismann crave attention that badly?
Last I heard, we all knew the challenges that Tebow is facing and at least I feel fairly certain that Tebow will work harder than anyone on the planet to correct his deficiencies.
So why all the venom?
Theismann has been quoted in the past as saying he as been an underdog at times, and many felt he was too small to play QB in the NFL when he first came out of college.
According to Theismann, he was told he was too slow and not strong enough.
One would think that he would understand what Tebow is going through and possibly give him some advice on how to make it in the NFL.
But no, Average Joe does what he does best by creating a headline to feed his massive ego.
Hey Joe, a piece of advice: There are other ways to make a headline. I know you're getting older and the years may be passing you by, but to take a cheap shot at a guy who you couldn't even stand next to is a very easy way out.
So here's to Joe Theismann, who must feel better now that he has gotten all that pent up negativity out of his system.
Here's hoping Tim Tebow makes Theismann eat his words.
