Burton,Kahne Lead Bud Shootout Practice

A big day of action at Daytona International Speedway. It was media day at Daytona, ARCA practice and then the Nascar Sprint Cup Series hit the track with two practice sessions for Saturday nights Budweiser Shootout which can be seen on Fox at 8pm est. Drivers got to the track and it did’nt take long to get two and three wide and we saw some great racing early and some fast speeds over 193 mph. Nascar went to a larger restrictor plate for the Daytona and Talladega races this year and of course the bump drafting is back and the yellow line rule stays in tack. Now leading into that during practice session one a big crash midway through practice that involved Denny Hamlin, Mark Martin, Jamie McMurray, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Clint Bowyer who was in the car because Kevin Harvick is back home sick with the flu. The accident happened just after the tri-oval heading into turn 1 more less two guys going for the same piece of track and just made contact, so far five cars have went to backup cars for Saturday, some made it out for practice session two some did’nt. In practice session two it was more of a calm session nothing major except for Juan Pablo Montoya and Kurt Busch who got together in the tri oval and Kurt Busch made hard contact and will more likely be in a backup car for Saturday. The Bud Shootout selection show will be tonight at 9pm on speed to determine positions with the exception that some drivers will go to the back depending on what changes that have happened. Friday will be more on tract activity and practice for Saturday Daytona 500 pole day and front row qualifying before the ARCA race and Shootout this Saturday.
