Super Bowl XLIV Prop Bets from WhatIfSports.com
One of my favorite comedic exchanges of all-time is from the movie Dumb & Dumber . Now that I may have lost half of my audience with this admission, I will share with you the Jim Carey-Jeff Daniels hilarity:
Harry: No way!
Lloyd: I'll give you three to one odds.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Five to one.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Ten to one?
Harry: You're on!
Lloyd: I'm gonna get ya!
Harry: Nuh uh!
Lloyd: I don't know how, but I'm gonna get ya.
Sports bookmakers in Las Vegas and around the globe search out the Harrys of the world come Super Bowl season. They lure them in with Lloyd Christmas like tactics and provide stakes both amusing and financially rewarding if enough cash is laid down. The only difference is the house is smarter than you .
Nevertheless, gamblers around the world are salivating at the thought of hundreds upon hundreds of proposition bets (prop bets) hovering around Super Bowl XLIV's grand stage.
Due to time constraints, Whatifsports.com concentrated its energy on 10 of those prop bets.
Super Bowl XLIV Prop Bets
| Carrie Underwood's National Anthem Time | O/U - 1:42 | 1:42.32 |
| Archie Manning On Camera (Live) | O/U - 4 Times | 6.73 Times |
| Kim Kardashian On Camera (Live) | O/U - 2.5 | 3.11 Times |
| "The Who" Smash a Guitar | Yes +155 No -190 | Yes - 97.1% |
| Coin Toss | Heads -105 No -105 | Heads - 50.12% |
Minutes upon minutes of research were used to study how long it will take Carrie Underwood to belt out the Star Spangled Banner.
Las Vegas thinks it will take her around one minute and 42 seconds. We predict she will hold that last note a smidge too long and put herself over the allotted time.
Archie Manning already beat Peyton heads up , but should receive plenty of face time during Super Bowl in-game coverage this year. The over/under on how many times the elder Manning would appear on camera during the game started at (O/U 2.5), but has since shot up to (O/U 4). Whatifsports.com believes with Peyton being the focal point for the majority of the game, and, assuming Eli is in the same suite as his pops, the likelihood of Archie ONLY being on camera four times is a wee bit too low for our liking. Whatifsports.com predicts Archie will appear on camera more than six times.
Kim Kardashian's success rate for winning this bet depends on the play of her man Reggie Bush . The reality star may receive one complementary camera-love-moment before she's cut off. Then it's up to Bush to accomplish something relevant on the field. The O/U on how many times we can keep up with Kim during the game is 2.5. Whatifsports.com (we are here for you guys) predicts we will see her more often, with a little over three cameos during the game.
Things that are not safe inside Sun Life Stadium during Super Bowl XLIV: Carrie Underwood around a bunch of drunken Dolphin fans who think their team is playing, Kim Kardashian around a bunch of drunken members of the Jersey Shore cast (yes, there may be a "Situation" developing), and any guitar held by a member of "The Who" during their halftime performance.
Whatifsports.com predicts there is over a 97 percent chance that a guitar explodes into smithereens (not the musical group, but also from New Jersey) on stage, at some point. And then there is the infamous coin flip prop bet. But this isn't 50/50; tails fails in this circumstance. Heads gets the nod at 50.1 percent.
We also put our Whatifsports.com computers to work on some of the more popular in-game prop bets that have popped up over the past few days. We could spend hours breaking down the various in-game wagers, but here are five to tide you over.
