SAN ANTONIO VS. PORTLAND PICKNBA betting action wraps up on Thursday night with the back-end of the TNT double header between the San Antonio Spurs (28-19, 23-23-1 ATS) and the Portland Trail Blazers (29-22, 27-23-1 ATS). San Antonio kicked off its annual Rodeo Road Trip on Wednesday night with a 115-113 triumph in Sacramento, while the Blazers fell to the Jazz 118-105. Neither team successfully beat the NBA betting lines last night.

Considering what a quick pace last night’s game was played at, the Spurs very well could show signs of fatigue tonight. G Tony Parker is expected to miss his fourth straight game with an ankle injury, which is going to throw a ton of pressure onto the broad shoulders of F Tim Duncan. The Wake Forest product is the only other player on the team aside from Parker to score more than 13 points per game. He’s having yet another strong year, tallying 19.8 points and 10.8 boards per night. HC Gregg Popovich clearly can’t be happy with his team’s defensive efforts of late, as San Antonio has allowed 216 points over its L/2 games, both ATS defeats.

Without G Brandon Roy in the lineup, the Trail Blazers look like a totally different team. Roy has missed ten of the L/11 Portland games, and even though the team is 6-4 ATS in those outings, the offense has clearly struggled. Without “The Natural” in the starting five, the Blazers have only cracked the 100+ point barrier four times. The defense is starting to falter as well with four of their L/5 NBA gambling opponents having scored at least 104 points.

This will be the third meeting of the year between the Blazers and Spurs. Portland won both of the previous decisions taking the game at the Rose Garden 96-84, and also took the clash at the Alamodome 98-94 to pull the upset as a 12-point underdog. The home team is 9-3 against the basketball wagering lines in the L/12 meetings. The Blazers enter this game in the #8 position in the Western Conference, just 1.5 games ahead of a host of teams. The Spurs are only a game ahead of Portland in the standings, but are currently in the #5 position.
