Are Case and Colt McCoy the Next Peyton and Eli Manning?
The college recruiting classes are signing up this week and one notable signing that may not look as big now but could be big in the future and that is the signing of former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy’s little brother, Case.
With older brother Colt moving on the Longhorns bolstered their quarterback corps by signing his little brother and hope that he has the same kind of success that his older brother had while with the Longhorns.
It’s rare to see two brothers’ play at the same school and much rarer that they both play the same position, especially quarterback. That being said it’s not out of the question to think that Case could end up having the same kind of great career that his brother had while he was at Texas.
They may not be the same quarterback but they have the same kind of skills and the same kind of pedigree.
So if Case has a lot of success at Texas, either as much or more than Colt had, is it too much to say that we may be seeing the second coming of the Manning brothers?
Granted, it’s a little too early to tell but if Case can succeed in college and Colt can get his foot in the door in the NFL then we may be looking at another set of quarterback brothers that could take the NFL by storm much like Eli and Payton have.
The Manning brothers have one Super Bowl win between the two of them and quite possibly one more after Sunday’s Super Bowl.
There has never been a combination like them in the NFL and we thought that there might not be another one for a while until Case came along. Now both have the chance to make history repeat itself and quite possibly win a Super Bowl.
Time will tell.
We still have to wait a while for Case to develop but it’s interesting to think about and it’s something that any diehard Longhorn fan would eventually like to see.
One other important thing to remember is that if both Colt and Case find a lot of success in the NFL, you must certainly give a lot of credit to Longhorn’s coach Mack Brown.
Brown will have successfully turned three starting NFL quarterbacks (with Vince Young being the other) if both McCoy brothers have a decent time in the NFL. Brown could be considered to be a top notch coach who developed some of the best players to play the professional game.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Case and Colt.
Will they be the next Manning brothers?
Stay tuned!
