North Vs. South: Purdue Vs IU: The Battle For Indiana

A mild day for Indiana winter, as the sun begins to set, with massive amounts of snow in the forecast will be the setting tomorrow evening as the AP number 8 Purdue Boilermakers (18-3), travel to Bloomington to face the struggling but improving Hoosiers (9-11).  This bitter rivalry is one of the fiercest basketball rivalry's in the nation.  Full of rich Indiana basketball tradition, it is sure to be a game full of excitement.  Both teams have a very passionate fan base, and to consider Indiana a guaranteed loser in this game would be an ignorant statement.  

The passionate Hoosier fans will be out in force as the Boilermakers travel into the Hall of Calls.  As a Purdue Student, I find myself truly hating every aspect of IU.  I do not like most of the people, although a few exceptions, and I just do not like their values and morals period.  Although i blatantly think that IU sucks, I respect their rich history.

IU fans do tend to ,however, fall back on those 5 dusty banners as a defense mechanism for having such a horrible team now.  The fact is, Crean is a good coach, and IU basketball is on the rise again, so do not make lame excuses about how you have won 5 national titles. 

I will be traveling along with the Boilermakers tomorrow night along with 74 other members of the Paint Crew.  We are going to bring it and not hold anything back.  Purdue comes in a heavy favorite, but anything can happen in these rivalry games.  Although I expect Purdue to win the game, I expect Indiana to keep it close.

Expect E'twaun Moore and JuJuan Johnson to have great games but to get into foul trouble late.  I think it will be a break out game for the Boilers bench play and expect Byrd to be a big contributor.  Overall with the Purdue's experience and with the "Hummel" factor I don't see IU's youthful team able to defeat the Boilermakers no matter how loud the crowd is.
