National Signing Day 2010: Keenan Allen Picks Cal, Coleman, Stone Scoff Alabama
Menzie In, Allen Out
The Crimson Tide has little to do on Wednesday except collect the signatures of the strongly committed athletes in the third-ranked signing class of 2010. Keenan Allen has lost his mind and decided to try and pull some strings for his half-brother. Saban will have none of it and has decided not to pursue the five-star athlete and Allen selected Cal on Wednesday.
Allen's position was given to Dequan Menzie on Sunday. The Tide has move on. If Allen wants a chance to play with the Tide despite his shenanigans it is unlikely that there will be room.
Offensive Line Stars
Five-star offensive lineman Shon Coleman will likely pen his name on the line for the Tide, although Auburn is still in the picture. Pendry has developed a good relationship and has kept in touch with the prep star. Trooper Taylor won't stop until Coleman signs one way or the other, so this is the most contested battle of the day.
Most recruiting analysts feel Stone will roll with the Tide as well. If Alabama captures these three athletes on Wednesday, the acquired signatures will likely boost them over the in-state rival Auburn Tigers for the second or third spot in the rankings.
Turns out analysts were wrong.
TIDE LOSES GROUND: Allen signs with Cal, Coleman and Stone tap Auburn and Vols respectively. Tide still finishes in Top 5 but a lackluster finish. All positions filled and plenty of depth through 2012.
