Patriots Destined To Miss The Playoffs

18-1 not only ended a possible greatest record in all of sports, but also ended the chance of shutting up the '72 Dolphins. 18-1 will stick in the minds of every player from last season though out this whole season.

History tells us every losing Super Bowl team fails to make the post season the next year. Why should this change for the Patriots?

The Patriots still have arguably the best quarterback in the game, but lost a lot of pieces.  Donte Stallworth, one of the many targets for Brady, bolted to the Browns. He was a key because when Randy Moss or Wes Welker were shut down, Stallworth was talented enough to shine.

Even though the Patriots offense last year was a juggernaut, their defense was key in their undefeated season. Defense does win championships. However, a thing called time is making the old veterans even older. Before you know it the veterans like Junior Seau, Tedi Bruschi and Rodney Harrison will be out on the field in wheel chairs getting blown by the young talent in the NFL. But they still have something left in the tank.

The secondary got a huge blow when Randall Gay and Asante Samuel left. They will have to rely on back ups and rookies. From the looks of it Peyton Manning will have a field day on them. If he can get the ball of from the Patriots intense pass-rush.

With the inexperienced back field and the aging front line, there is no way I can say this is a championship or even playoff defense.

The players on the field will not be as effective and so will everyone's favorite Bill Bellichick. Spygate ruined his coaching method of recording the other teams plays. No wonder why he was considered a genius, he knew what the other team was running!

The NFL will keep an eye on him. We will see just how good of a coach he is without his tapes. We already saw him get out coached in the Super Bowl.

I know it is hard to go from 16-0 one season to not making the playoffs the next, but not only do I have to go with history I also have to go with all the problems the team has right now. They lost key pieces and, emotionally, it will be tough to get over a loss in the Super Bowl. A lot of people expected the Bears last year to get back to the Super Bowl. Look what happened to them.
