I love this picture. Represents a new era in wrestling history. This was the impregnation of DeGeneration X. 15 months later, DX was born.
Last night's Raw seemed like a foreshadow of this year's Wrestlemania. HBK loses to Randy Orton. Batista comes in to attack Bret Hart.
Now why is Batista even in this situation to begin with. This has to do with McMahon and Hart.
That's because they have a storyline in the making for Vince McMahon and Bret Hart to have a match at Wrestlemania. Those two won't be wrestling though.
Remember when Donald Trump and Vince McMahon battled it out, while their chosen wrestler to represent them battled it out. McMahon chose Umaga. Trump choose Bobby Lashley.
Well, this seems like this year's Wrestlemania. Many people don't expect Bret Hart to get back into the ring to wrestle, unless he's willing to give it one last hurrah, which I don't think he will.
So Vince obviously is going to have Batista represent him by his side for Mania. Why can't Bret Hart choose Shawn Michaels to represent him at Mania.
Bret Hart doesn't have anyone else in that locker room to represent him. About 85% of the current WWE locker room never been in the same arena as Bret Hart until January 4.
So what better way for HBK/Bret Hart to really move on past the screwjob and become true friends than to look out for each other for Wrestlemania.
That gives HBK three reasons to fight for Bret Hart the match. One, he will still be in Wrestlemania. Two, he will finally be able to shut up Batista and prove that Batista is really overrated, in HBK's words. And three, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in the same corner is money on its own.
Now for a second, I thought they may have Bret Hart choose Cena to represent him, which he still may have, for wrestlemania against Batista. But then I watch Smackdown last Friday and the segment between HBK and Batista was an intriguing one and actually was my favorite segment of the night, besides his match with Mysterio.
If they wanted Cena, then they already would have had an encounter between Cena and Batista to foreshadow their potential Mania match.
Batista getting in HBK's face, threating to fight him backstage before HHH stepped in for his best friend, interfering in HBK's match with Mysterio, and eliminating him from the Rumble, all signs point to Mania. And don't think for a sec Batista and HBK ever liked each other. They just tolerated one another.
Shawn Michaels backing up Bret Hart and Batista backing up Vince McMahon will make a blockbuster match. Batista does step up at Wrestlemania and we don't have to say much about Shawn Michaels when he steps into WWE's Super Bowl square circle. He will propel Dave Batista to a 5 star match.
And this match will also give WWE the swerve they love to give. This whole time, they are leading everyone to believe that HBK/Taker 2 will happen. That could maybe still be the case.
This reminds me of the time back at Wrestlemania 17 in 2001. HHH and Stone Cold just finished a heated rivalry against each other at No Mercy, where HHH won the 2 out of 3 falls. Classic match BTW.
That next night, he knew that Austin would be fighting The Rock at Mania because Austin won the Rumble. HHH claimed he beaten everyone and didn't have anyone to fight. Undertaker comes out to the ring and challenges HHH at that Mania. I still remember that match as that's one of my all-time favorite matches. Very underrated in many people's eyes.
That's how I see this HBK/Batista match. This will also be HBK's classy way of putting his pride aside to right the wrong in his past with Bret Hart. This is the ULTIMATE truce between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels.
If these two do fight, I see Shawn Michaels winning because he's not losing two straight Super Bowl matches and he has Hart by his side.
So that's my early Wrestlemania pick. I will be coming with you with more Wrestlemania match predictions and outcomes. Hope you guys enjoyed.
