Portland Trailblazers-Charlotte Bobcats: Game 50: Blazers 98, Bobcats 79
98 points. Six players in double figures. A leading scorer with only 17 points. This was a team win in every sense of the word.
That being said, 21 Bobcats turnovers and 18 Blazers turnovers equals one sloppy game. I can't even count how many errant passes found their way into the stands or the hands of an opposing player. Larry Brown and his hard-nosed defense clearly wanted to pressure Portland's guards, and they managed to find success by forcing Bayless into four turnovers and making Blake as jittery as a schoolgirl every time Augustin got near him. Thank heavens for Miller and his 10 assists.
On the occasions when the ball wasn't being turned over, both defenses were giving way to a stream of layups and alley oops. I'm not complaining, as I enjoy highlights as much as the next guy; I'm just pointing out that this was not typical Nate MacMillan era, Trailblazers basketball.
Lastly, Martell made a solid effort at retaining his starting position. He played solid defense, shot the ball decently and grabbed some boards. However, he still couldn't measure up to the energized Nicolas Batum. Batum has only been back for a handful of games, but he has clearly staked his claim to the SF position.
A win is a win is a win.
Go Trailblazers!
