Would Royce Gracie be the middleweight champion

I was having a discussion with my brother whether Royce Gracie in his prime would the middleweight champion.

Royce Gracie is argue ably the greatest mma fighter of all time. He brought bjj to mma and revolutionized the sport. Ufc before was more like a brawl with fights not lasting more than 2 minutes .

Gracie showed that to become a mma champ when he was fighting you would need more than just brute power and would need skill and technique.

Im not saying that now any one could rival him in bjj he is a 7th degree red and black belt. But if Anderson silva did fight Royce Gracie in his prime would he be able to neutralise Gracie bjj.

I mean Gracie was submitting people who probably never trained a day in there life at bjj.

Anderson silva is a genuine black belt. With submission wins other dan Henderson and fellow black belt Travis lutter.

He has one of the tightest and most impressive guards in the ufc. There is no doubt that silva would win in the stand up.

  1. 1.       Would Gracie be able to cope with Anderson stand up
  2. 2.       Would Gracie be able to secure a takedown
  3. 3.       Would Anderson silva be able to keep Gracie in his guard
  4. 4.       Would Gracie be able to submit a modern day ufc fighter

So im just wondering what you guys think who would win?

i wouldn’t know who to chose but if i had to i would say Gracie submission 2nd round.
