MLB Rumor Wire: Curt Schilling to Pitch Again?

Many rumors are floating around these past few days in baseball. With the All-Star game just around the corner, many teams are preparing for the trade deadline. Should they be buyers or sellers? Who should they trade? Who should they target? Many of these rumors and more in this edition of the MLB Rumor Wire!

Curt Schilling

After going through right shoulder surgery this past Monday Schilling appears ready to return to MLB. He had a rotator cuff and a tendon on his right bicep restored by Dr. Craig Morgan.

Apparently the operation went extremely well.

Schilling appeared on a local sports talk radio show and said, "If I want to pitch again, I have a chance to. That's the bottom line."

Schilling is a free agent right now, but the most likely potential home for him is in Boston. The main opposition of this, however, is the question of whether or not the Red Sox want to cough up more money. Schilling made $8 million this season, but didn't throw a pitch.

Freddy Garcia

While Garcia has not pitched since June 8th of last year because of right shoulder surgery, the Houston Astros are interested in him. They contacted the Phillies regarding Garcia, who will throw in an upcoming showcase for scouts.

The Astros are looking for veteran pitching after releasing Shawn Chacon.

Felipe Lopez

FOX Sports's Ken Rosenthal reports that contact has been made between the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles regarding Felipe Lopez.

The Orioles recently lost Miguel Tejada to the Astros and are looking for a replacement, and Lopez is expected to be fairly cheap.

Erik Bedard

ESPN's Jayson Stark is reporting that the Philadelphia Phillies sent their director of scouting to Atlanta last week to watch Bedard pitch against the Braves. The Phillies have interest in Bedard, as does the Yankees and numerous other teams.

There has been a recent drawback in interest, however, because of Bedard's character issues. Stark is saying that a trade has not been ruled out as a possibility.
