Murray Destroys Cilic to Reach Australian Open Final

Andy Murray clawed his way back after losing the first set of his eagerly-anticipated Australian Open semi-final against Marin Cilic to secure a place in the final this weekend, with a brave and spirited display.
 
British tennis fans were left groaning when Murray lost the first set 3-6 and another false dawn for the sport in the UK seemed to be on the horizon. Cilic had the beating of Murray in the opening exchanges, leaving the Scot out of position more times than anyone had expected going into this clash.
 
However, Murray stunned Cilic in the second set, pulling the strings from the baseline and making his opponent, who had already spent far longer on court reaching this stage of the Australian Open than the Brit, do all the running.

After securing victory, Murray revealed that he was forced to commit to his shots after going behind early in the clash, whilst Cilic conceded that although fatigue may have played a part in the result, the Brit deserved to win.
 
Murray's victory has made him the first British male since John Lloyd in 1977 to reach the Australian Open final but he will have to wait a little longer to see who his opponent will be, with Roger Federer (who is still the favorite in the tennis betting for the tournament) and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga playing in the other semi-final.
