No Longer Elite? Mats Sundin Silences Critics
I was recently reading an article in "The Hockey News" called "Top 50".
As you can imagine, it was a ranking of the NHL's elite in numerical order. At the end there was a mini article entitled "How Could We Forget These Guys?"
There was Sundin's name, never seeming so out of place. The article read, and I quote:

"The Toronto captain is still ready and willing to make a contribution, but he is no longer the team's best player (Tomas Kaberle is) or most dangerous scoring threat (newcomer Jason Blake gets the nod)."
End quote.
Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.
How can anyone justify saying Sundin is not one of top 50 active players. He is all over the NHL's leaderboard. Just look where he ranks in this season alone as of November 3rd (without ties):
- 3rd in points.
- 17th in goals.
- 2nd in assists.
- 13th in +/-.
