Thereโs plenty of hoopla surrounding Herschel Walker & Bobby Lashleyโs Strikeforce debuts this Saturday, however donโt sleep on Marius Zaromskis. You know, the guy fighting Nick Diaz in the main event for the vacant welterweight title at โStrikeforce: Miami.โ
After winning the Dream Welterweight Grand Prix to become the divisionโs first champion, Zaromskis signed a contract with Strikeforce and was set to make his debut against MMA veteran Jay Hieron.ย However, Hieron nixed the scrap because he felt Zaromskis wasnโt a big enough name.

Zaromskis, who owns a respectable 13-3 pro record, didnโt taken Hieronโs comments too personally but said, โIf Jay Hieron doesnโt feel that Iโm famous enough to fight him, then I guess heโll just have to wait until I get famous and Iโll fight him.โ
Everything worked out nicely for Zaromskis as heโs headed for a 5Round title affair while Hieron will meet Joe Riggs in a non-televised preliminary bout this Saturday.
The Zaromskis/Diaz bout is a classic grappler vs. striker battle. Although Diaz can exchange blows with the best of them, his submission game is what opponents fear the most.
โAs far as how the fight will go or what Iโll be able to do, I donโt want to predict that. Weโll just have to see it in the ring,โ Zaromskis said of his bout with Diaz.
Yes, Bobby Lashley and Herschel Walker will pack the BankAtlantic Center seats, but MMA purists believe Marius Zaromskis and Nick Diaz will make the evening.
