Senior Bowl Madness: Tebow struggling
The big NFL Draft news this morning is that Tim Tebow is really struggling at the Senior Bowl practices. A big part of his problem, apart from his troublesome mechanics, is that he’s used to running a shotgun spread offense unlike what NFL passers use.
"In the first day of practice, today, Tebow struggled to keep a hold of snaps from center. He fumbled the first one, and went on to badly botch five or six. It is not what NFL scouts wanted to see from Tebow. However that may be the least of Tebow’s problems. Many in attendance of the Senior Bowl practice criticized Tebow on his mechanics, far and beyond his struggles to take a snap from center.

However, The Sporting News writes that it doesn’t matter if Tebow struggles because he’s a complete rock star and will defy draft geek conventional wisdom anyway. Here’s the reasoning:
"• Expectations: Scouts had already battered Tebow’s mechanics over the past few weeks to the point where his ability to merely walk without stumbling is a moral victory. Low expectations always help; nowhere to go but up.
• It was Day 1: Did scouts really expect Tebow to come in and seamlessly transition to a new style, with new players around him? No pre-draft rookie QB is instantly ready for the NFL. Give him a week … or three months … or three seasons.
• Tebow defies grading: Commensurate with his status as the Senior Bowl’s — and college football’s — biggest rock star, there is a strong chance that he could have mediocre workouts yet still go in the Draft’s Top 10, to the Jaguars.
