Jeffrey Whitaker: Will This Massive Defensive Tackle Become an Auburn Tiger?

Robert BrooksJan 25, 2010

One word can be used to describe Warner Robins, GA defensive tackle Jeffrey Whitaker: Big. ESPN has dubbed him as a “human terminator.”

Rivals.com says he’s a “massive human who’s too strong to be pushed off the ball.”

Get the picture? Whitaker is full of brute strength and size, and would be a welcome addition to stopping the run in any defense.

While his recruiting is coming to an end, there are three big players still in the picture for his services. Whitaker visited in-state UGA last week, and with the addition of former Dallas Cowboy defensive line coach Todd Grantham, as well as the 3-4 defense he brings with him to Athens, the Bulldogs will continue to be a big player for his services.

The Auburn Tigers are looking to shore up a top five class in the country, and with players like Whitaker, they can look to close with possibly the top overall class. Whitaker took his official visit to Auburn on the 15th of January and left very impressed. He told Scout.com that he rated it a perfect 10, but he was still not ready to commit.

The 6’3’’ 295 pound tackle is ranked as the fifth best DT in the country per Rivals.com. Whitaker participated in the Army All-American game, and is also a four-star prospect by all of the major recruiting sites.

The third player in the Jeffrey Whitaker sweepstakes is the University of Miami. Whitaker will take his visit to Hurricane country this weekend. Miami is much farther from Whitaker’s hometown than Auburn and UGA, so Miami will be looking to steal him from the heart of Georgia and the SEC.

Whitaker has decided to announce his college choice Feb. 1 at Warner Robins High School.

While Auburn is very much still in play, UGA and Miami are still right there with them.

On February 1, we’ll find out who will get to watch Whitaker terrorize offensive lines for years to come.
