Brett Favre: How Long Before He's Done?

Casey WomackJan 24, 2010

The same question will come up repeatedly all spring and summer until a certain No. 4 announces what his final decision. It's the question everyone in Green Bay, New York, and Minnesota knows far too well.

Will Brett Favre return for another season?

This re-run of a soap opera will be sure to annoy the hearts of fans all over the NFL, again .

This season seems different though. He's actually healthy. He's playing extremely well.  He's having fun. His team is having success. He has enough energy after games to sing popular tunes like "Pants on the ground" from American Idol.

So what will he do? Favre already turned 40-years-old this season. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll be the oldest QB to win a playoff game for a long time to come. He already has numerous records in his name. This season could definitely be the year he wins his second Super Bowl.

Sounds like the perfect time bow out, right? Well, not if your name is Brett Favre.

If you ask me, barring some injury, he will be back. Why not come back? He has the perfect situation going on right now in Minnesota, regardless of whether he wins the Super Bowl or not.

He has an extremely talented offensive line that is maturing every game. He has up and coming stars in Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin. He has arguably the best running back in the league with Adrian Peterson.

Plus, there have been many rumors that Randy Moss and Brett Favre would love to play with each other. Both have expressed interest in that possibility; that alone could be enough to bring Favre back.

Imagine that offense for a second: Moss, Rice, Harvin, Peterson, and Favre all on one team together. Is there any defense that could contain that for 60 minutes? I don't think so.

Apart from all the great players surrounding him, Favre has shown he clearly still has "it".

Will he come back? Ask me on August 18th.
