Dallas to Deal For King's Martin?

Sam terryJan 23, 2010

The Dallas Mavericks defense has been there this season. Now it's the offense that is becoming a problem. Mavs can't score and they usually are around 39 percent in shooting for a game.ย

What better guy than Kevin Martin to help you score the basketball. Only 26 and he even hit his prime yet. Averaging 23.2ย pointsย per game and near 3 assists. Let's not forget the poor - mentioned 5 rebounds a game.

Sources say thatย Sacramentoย is not giving up Martin, but Dallas is making a huge push for him. Offering Josh Howard, who is having a down year. The Mavericks have put Josh Howard on the trading block.

For the Kings, you put Howard at the 3 or the 2 slot, and you have pretty good combo of Evans, and Howard. Both are not well 3 points shooters but are very good when they get in the paint.

If this deal goes through then here's a good look at the King's starters:ย

PG: Evans, SG: Howard, SF: Greene, PF: Thompson, C: Brockman. And their very young, deep, bench that insists of Casspi, Nocioni, and Hawes.

Now the Mavs starters:ย

PG: Kidd, SG: Martin, SF: Marion, PF: Nowitzki, C: Dampier. Also the Mavs have the best bench in the league that includes : Terry, Gooden, Barea.ย

Now as a kings fan, you're wondering why the heck would I make this trade well....here's 2 reason why.

1. Tyreke Evans is the franchise player for the Kings , with Martin, there can't be 2 franchise players.

2. Howard is not a franchise player for any team, but he's one of the best sidekick players in the league, and he's a very good on-ball defender. When healthy he can give you 18 and 6, on any given night.

Mavericks are in front of the line for the King's Martin, other teams that have a eye on him are : Cavs, Rockets, and Suns.
