Man I Got That Swag- Jets Make a Run at The Super Bowl

Ben TraynhamJan 23, 2010

Even if the Jets don't win this weekend, their season will be considered a huge success. ย Rex Ryan has proven to be a great coach and a great motivator. ย Mark Sanchez, although he will not have as much luck next year, has shown that he is not a draft bust, and he truly is the "Sanchize." ย And, Darrelle Revis brings swag like no other. ย Now- to my pick and my reasons why. ย Jets 24-20

Although it is extremely hard for me to pick against Peyton Manning (I am already second guessing myself as I am writing this article), Peyton alone is not enough to beat the Jets. ย The Jets, as everyone knows, has the best defense in the NFL. ย Their run defense is ranked 8th, and their pass defense is ranked 1st. ย Since the Colts can't run the football (ranked dead last in the league), they will have to rely on the veteran combo of Peyton to Dallas. ย It will remain to be seen how the young hands of Collie and Garcon will hold up. ย I will promise you one thing though, Darrelle Revis will have at least one interception. ย I also predict that the Jets Defense as a whole will have at least 2 turnovers, and at least one of them will be converted into a touchdown by the Sanchize. ย That is how the Jets play. ย They come out, force mistakes, and they capitalize on them. ย Rex Ryan has these guys playing tough football, and they are having fun doing so.

The wild card in this game is the Jets offense. ย The Jets have the number 1 ranked rushing offense in the league. Indianapolis is ranked 24th in rushing defense, certainly nothing to write home about. ย The Jets will look to control the clock and pound the football down Indy's throat. The run game will open up some passing opportunities for Sanchez. ย All Sanchez has to do is make one or two big pass plays, and the game is in his hands. ย As a rookie, however, it is safe to assume that Sanchez will throw at least one interception. ย Not to worry though, the Jets D is good enough to hold the Indy offense to field goals is short field situations.

To summarize- Colts vs. Jets. Oneย dimensionalย offense vs. #1 pass defense. ย Average defense vs. #1 rushing offense. ย Silence vs. Swag. ย This is the perfectย matchupย for Rex Ryan's style of football. ย If the Jets play their game and Sanchez keep the ball safe, the Jets will win this football game.
