ARE THE CORN HUSKERS RIGHT NOW "BACK AS AN ELITE CFB TEAM?"
I need your help, are The Nebraska Cornhuskers right now "Back" and an elite College Football team or do you need to see key wins over top 5 and 10 teams before you call them "back" and elite?
Many CFB fans remember the dominance of NE during the mid and late 1990's. Many recall their power rushing games, the dominant "Black shirt" D and their two consecutive National titles with wins over FL teams.
This past year, NE lost a heart breaker to VA TECH, stumbled at home against Iowa State and wowed the Nation almost beating TX with a dominant D performance and then had an impressive bowl win shutting out The Wild cats of Arizona.
Many, including me, see them as a legit Top Ten Team next year.
However, here's the catch;
1. To me the verdict is still out. Yes, they had some key wins, but until NE wins the Big 12 and or competes and wins a BCS bowl game and or beats a top 5 or 10 team, I don't see them elite or back.
2. To others, NE is back and elite, by virtue of destroying a good, but not great Arizona team and almost getting by TX in the Big 12 Title game with Suh's suffocating performance.
I see NE improving, but I need to see a Big 12 title and a BCS bowl win and or a win over a top 5 or 10 team before I'd say they're back.
I don't have a crystal ball and can't see into the future, but I'm really looking forward to next year's TX game at Lincoln.
One more thing, CFB fans, taking the position explained above, does that make me a Nebraska hater or just an objective CFB fan?
Love to hear your thoughts and comments, using your fine analyses and stats and facts!!
