Although the Bostonian says his career began inside the Octagon, Sherdog.com indicates that Florian had a 2-1 professional record before emerging in the UFC. Weโll assume that Florian meant his career didnโt take off until after appearing on the inaugural season of โThe Ultimate Fighter.โ
Regardless, Florian holds an impressive 12-4 professional record, with all but one of his victories ending before the final horn.ย Although he thoroughly handled Roger Huerta at UFC 87, Florian had to settle for taking a lopsided unanimous decision that August 2008 evening.
Florian also discussedย the rumor that he and Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi will be headlining UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31st. The former top contender reiterated that nothing has been agreed upon, however Florian sounded as though it was all but a done deal.
โNothing is signed yet, but thatโs a fight Iโve been wanting for a long time,โ Florian stated. โTakanori Gomi is of course a legend in the sport, a guy I have a lot of respect for. Itโs going to be a great fight.โ
The yet-to-be-announced Spike TV broadcast is expected to take place in North Carolina and will serve as a lead-in for โThe Ultimate Fighter 11โณ debut immediately after.
