Mind Games: TNA IMPACT! Aftermath
Tonight was about learning lessons, getting payback and getting the upper hand heading into Victory Road. Unfortunately, nothing was learned, payback wasn't given and the upper hand is still in the air. Here's the aftermath of Thursday's night TNA IMPACT!
Opening Bout: AJ Styles defeats Consequences Creed
After a friendly handshake, the two former training partners go counter for counter on each other. As Styles grabs the upper hand, the camera catches Kurt Angle outside waiting for the arrival of his wife, Karen. Creed uses a somersault clothesline to gain control, and after the Consequences Combo, Styles fires back with a standing spinebuster.
AJ nails the Pele and Styles Clash to pick up the victory, but after the bout, Jeremy Borash informs him that Kurt is outside waiting for Karen. Without hesitation, Styles bolts towards the parking lot.
Back on IMPACT!, Styles and Angle are being separated by security as Karen tries her best to dissolve the situation. Back in the IMPACT! Zone, Brother Ray is promising that this would be the last time that Christian Cage would be on IMPACT!
Second Bout: Christian Cage defeats Brother Ray via DQ
As the bell rings, it's clear that Cage is distracted by the guarantee of Brother Ray. But he bounces back with the Frog Splash. After Ray kicks out, Johnny Devine hits the ring with a kendo stick, but misses Cage. After Cage takes out Devine, Brother Ray hits him from behind and nails him with the stick to get DQ'd by the official.
After the match, Brother Devon and Tomko hit the ring with a glass table. They then set up the table, place Cage into Brother Ray's arms and watch as the Bomb Squad drops the Instant Classic through the glass table. As Cage is being attended to by medical personnel, Team 3D, Tomko and Devine celebrate their shattering carnage.
In the back, Borash is interviewing Kevin Nash about his upcoming match with Booker T. As he explains his methods for tonight, he is interrupted by Samoa Joe, and the two engage in another battle of wits and one ups.
Third Bout: Awesome Kong defeats Danielle ($25,000 Challenge)
This match didn't last long as Kong kept Danielle grounded on the outside. After decimating her opponent on the outside, Kong brings her in to drop her with the Awesome Bomb to pick up the win. After the match, Kong shoots daggers at her opponent from last week, Taylor. She then proceeds to call Taylor into the ring, which she has no problem accepting.
Taylor jumps over the barrier and sprints into the ring. The two knockouts duke it out until Raisha Saeed intervenes only to get clocked. As Taylor refocuses on Kong, security swarms in and pulls Taylor out of the ring. Jim Cornette comes in and starts chewing Taylor out for her decision to attack Kong. But Taylor doesn't care and says she wants another shot at Kong.
With that, she challenges Saeed to a match next week, and if she wins, she gets Kong. She and Cornette go to the back to discuss the chance of a match between Taylor and Saeed.
Before the World X Cup can continue, the has been cast out of UFC Frank Trigg comes out to confront AJ Styles about his actions from last week. As Styles comes down to confront Trigg, the UFC jerkoff shows why he didn't last in the UFC by running out and showing that he was just luring Styles away from Karen as The Beautiful People throw the brown bag on Mrs. Angle's head.
Fourth Bout: Team Mexico defeats Team Japan (World X Cup)
Before the bout, Team International and Team TNA come out to the entrance ramp to get a closer look at the action. Speed Machine once again represents Team Japan while the luchadores from across the border make their TNA and World X Cup debut. Team Japan has control with a series of doubleteams, but Team Mexico comes back with some doubleteams of their own.
After a suicide dive gives Team Japan control, both teams go back and forth with quick moves and high flying maneuvers. But Team Mexico takes complete control with a pair of top rope facebusters followed by a Flying Senton to pick up the win and the point for Team Mexico.
As it stands now, Team TNA and Team Mexico each have one point in the World X Cup while Team Japan and Team International have yet to score a point. Next week, the singles competition begins in the World X Cup. Stay tuned to the Bleacher Report for more information.
In the back, Jay Lethal is fuming over the recent actions of his former best friend, Sonjay Dutt. But as he goes down memory lane about their history, his fiancee SoCal Val decides that they should postpone the wedding. While this is going on, Dutt has made his way to the ring.
Dutt comes out and proclaims that he will begin his campaign to release Val from her "chains of Jay Lethal." After that, Val starts to make her way to the ring to confront Dutt, but before she gets a chance to get face to face, Lethal sprints to the ring and resumes his assault on The Guru. As Lethal prepares to drop the Flying Elbow, Sonjay slips out of the ring with his Guru Parliament.
In the back, Booker T is showing Borash his newly remodeled dressing room. In the process, he also makes it clear that it is because of him that TNA is in the mainstream of sports entertainment.
In the back, Tomko and Borash are trying to talk some sense into Kurt Angle, but Team 3D brings it to his attention that he just had to settle and set the Olympic Gold Medalist up on some blind dates starting next week on IMPACT!
Fifth Bout: Moose defeats ODB (Knockouts Bimbo Brawl)
As the bell rings, ODB grabs the upper hand thanks to a little spit of courage in Moose's face. On the outside, ODB goes straight for the basket of toys. After a kick in the gut, the Minnesota powerhouse tosses her opponent into the shopping cart and launches her into the guardrail.
Back in the ring, Moose takes control thanks to a shot with a hockey stick. After getting almost choked out with a chain, ODB recovers with a trifecta of clotheslines and a fall away slam. ODB then hits the hat trick with a shovel as she jams it in her gut, slams it across her back and pings her in the skull. After a kickout, Moose recovers and lands the Bimbo Drop on a steel chair to pick up the win.
Main Event: Booker T defeats Kevin Nash (No Disqualification Match)
As the bell rings, Booker T tries to psych Nash out by avoiding contact as much as possible. As contact is finally made, TNA World Champion Samoa Joe makes his way down to the ring. Meanwhile, Nash has control, and as Booker tries to mount a comeback, he's sent outside and gets pummeled in the process.
Back in the ring, Booker mounts another comeback and is driving elbows into Nash. Next, the combatants are back on the outside with Nash slamming Booker's head into the steel steps. After several near falls, Nash gets caught with a spinning kick to the dome. Booker is on the offensive as they go back on the outside, this time closer to Samoa Joe.
On the outside, Booker pushes Joe out of his chair, then wraps the chair around his head. As Joe lays out on the outside, Booker drives the chair into Nash's knees. As Booker goes in for the kill, Joe comes in and gets some shots in on his Victory Road opponent. But he then inadvertently nails a staggering Nash with a superkick. After he sends Joe to the outside, Booker covers Nash for the easy pinfall.
As Nash recovers, he confronts Joe about his actions, but before the confrontation gets physical, security sprints in and keeps the two separated while Booker T walks up the ramp laughing as IMPACT! goes off the air.
