Recievers and Blockers ready to go?
The 2008 New Orleans Saints seem ready for another run for the post season. Yesterday we looked at there backfield. Today we look at the receivers and TE's. To start with not all of these players will make the final cut. In fact I feel that one will be traded another released and one will have the payday he should have.
Who ever heard of a 7th round draft pick becoming the #1 receiver in the NFL? Any answers to that. That is right no one would have a name. However the Saints have done something that in years past would have been, "we could of had him". Well now it the Saints turn on that. Marques Colston could very well be the best receiver in the NFL. OK, I know he does not have the greatest stats in every game, lacks great speed, but the man can play. Only one player has had a better first 2 years in the NFL and he was not Jerry Rice. Colston does have a very big body, in fact some teams I remember wanted him as a TE. Good thing the Saints didn't fall into that area. His ability to go over the middle and take the ball out of the air around the goal line makes him the best go to guy in the NFL. Randy Moss just flat out runs you and T.O will out talk you, but Colston just plays ball.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
David Patton really helps with providing a leader to the young recievers. His leadership will keep him around for another year as a player coach. After that the Saints have a log jam. Devery Henderson has speed but seems to drop the ball when the team needs a catch. Then he catches the ones he sould not have. I know the Saints resigned him. I know they love the speed. So I have to say goodbye Henderson. Another team is going to need a player and will trade something for him. Taking his spot will be Robert Meachem. A player that if he even dresses for a game is better then all of last season. As we all know what you do in OTA's and MINI-camp does not mean you will have a great season. If that does not work the Saints will have another 1st round bust.
Terrance Copper, Lance Moore know the play book and will benefit form having played in the system awhile. Skyler Green will have to make this team as a kick returner. His speed will help out. His heart is bigger then most people know. Coming home to play for the Saints will help him greatly. Adrian Arrington is another 7th round pick that I look for the Saints to keep around but on the practice list. Needs more work on his foot work and running routes. He gives Brees another big target and should be good. Dante Ridgeway and Titus Ryan I see as training camp bodies. Don't look for one of them to make it to training camp.
Is there a position on this team that needs an upgrade more then TE. The Saints tried to trade for New York Giants TE Shockey but the trade feel through. So fans the fact that we will still have our same TE is good. They know the playbook better and have worked with the team for some time. The bad side is will we be able to show other teams that this TE is not just a blocking TE. Or that one is a receiver. Mark Campbell, Eric Johnson, and Billy Miller should be on the roster. I just don't for see this. This area could use the biggest shake up on any on the team. Ronnie Ghent, and Buck Ortega should push for alot of playing time. One could and should move one of the three out altogether.
The recievers work well and we have different packages to show. The TE's are very plain. Not a one of them can block and catch consistently. With the tallent in the back field I still see this team pass happy and that could hurt in the long run.
